I get your point. I personally have nothing against nudity, the opposite
is actually the case: I am all for nudity not being a tabu in our society,
if it's done 'right'. The idea behind this cover is nice and fitting and I partly can see why they arranged everything the way they did, but I just think it's not done well. At least considering the message they want to hit. Probably that's just me being a left-wing hardcore feminist, but I think
it doesn't display her vulnerablity nor symbolizes her 'rebirth' in any
kind of way. To me it's yet again another (naked) women's body being
displayed in public to gain attention/make money with. I am not saying
that this is why they did it, that would really be unlike her, but it's the
message that comes with a failed attempt.
I get how hard it is to work with a naked body being on covers, posters, any commercial section if you don't want it to look cheap or sexist, but
if it's not done well it really just ends up being that. And you have to keep in mind that people that see this cover in any store or on the internet, not knowing the story behind it and why they did it this
way, will just see a woman holding a guitar before her genital. They will
not think of it as a symbol of rebirth, but just for what it is in the obvious.
That being said, I am over this. It's not a big deal for me personally. I just think things like that should be considered in the making.
Exactly what I was thinking, there, Mohican, this is a symbolic cover in a rather stereotypical way, with some marketing big dog involved who knew why he's proposing it - to get them' heads turning for the naked chick, who happens to be that beloved Avril from a decade ago. Essentially, we're looking at advanced ' clickbait' art, which manages to deliver the original message in a symbolic way, but also successfully caters to the 'primitive' minds and now all that's left to say is:

I’m sad all those country songs written with Chad were scrapped... I have a strong feeling this album is going to suck as much as AL5. None of these co-writers are promising

I watched the HAW video again, after a long time (lol) and I had noticed the bird that goes flying during the first scenes, where Ramona is inside that cave or whatever. What I just noticed is that during the last chorus, when she's walking outside, the bird is flying next to her. And it's a cute metaphor.
I know, I know, it's nothing new, but I think Birdie and HAW are sister songs, and now that the tracklist was revealed, it seems more possible. I think the symbolism is the same; feeling trapped, watching a bird(ie) fly, wishing to do the same, and then becoming the bird(ie) and doing exactly that. I like the concept, it's simple yet poetic.

It’ll be another 5-6 years before - AL7 so enjoy the new album and stop complaining for find a new artist. It’s pretty simple.

It’s so disgusting all the complainings... the cover, the number of tracks, the writers and producers, the videoclips, her attitude, her hair, her clothes, her boyfriend, her live vocals, the promo. I really wonder why some people still post here. I’m gonna go to a Madonna forum, do the same and see what happens.

To be honest all these “Photoshop mistakes” people keep pointing out just look like the reflections and ripples in the water??
The only things on the cover that does stand out for me is the hand on her thigh in the water reflection.
Also, I’m not a huge fan of Ballads, so an album of mature, clever and catchy pop songs is what I would love from her. There were hints of it on AL with Bad Girl, GYWYL and Hello Heartache.

I've never been one to complain about stuff that isn't related to her music but yeah I don't really like that album cover. It's not the fact she's naked but it's the ugly Photoshop mistakes (can't get over the way her "foot" looks like). And yes there's just that obvious green screen. It's a shame especially considering how beautifully done her 2 single covers were (imo among her best ones).
As for all the rest, the IMPORTANT STUFF, I am more than happy : pre-order (which means the February release is true!), the tracklist, the promising new single and video... I'm really looking forward to all of this and if the cover art gets fixed/changed it's just gonna be a bonus!

Not sure if I entirely agree - that is nothing compared to the negativity we have been observing on the site in recent months. It was an opinion more than anything, but perhaps just not the best wording.

I’ll take what Wikipedia says with a grain of salt, since I don’t know where all the info is coming from. I’d be kind of pissed if the songs with Travis, Rotem and Zane got scrapped because that would mean she did the same thing as in GL and AL this year to replace the songs with overproduced pop songs. Based on Mitch and Levine’s history, I’m doubtful we’ll hear any real instruments on those songs or that they won’t be very poppy, but we’ll see. I just don’t get why Allan gets to have 4 songs when she worked with so many more talented people on this album in the last two years who seemed to be much more in sync with the style she was initially going for.
I’m not holding my breath for any of the songs she produced by herself because they tend to be too raw and boring.
My guess is that while this might still be a more vocal album, at least the songs with Mitch and Levine will be more beat-driven, synth tracks, and that’s something I don’t like one bit. And it’s not just a song or two, it’s 1/3 of the album...What I loved about the lead, Head Above Water, was how natural it sounded, you could actually hear all the instruments on the track. I’m doubtful we’ll get that with those songs. Hope I’m wrong...
I wonder if we’ll be able to preorder a deluxe version of the album on Wednesday as well. It would be cool to have two or three more new songs on it. I’m not sure if BMG releases deluxe versions of their artists’ albums, though.

I don't like the cover either, but there's nothing I can do. About 12 tracks: I don't really care. It's okay for me. Since I like to listen to full albums instead of just ramdom songs, if that would have like 18 tracks would suck to listen to it. The only problem is that I am expecting too much for the songs on the album, I REALLY liked HAW and I hope I like the ofher songs as much or more than I like the first single.
