Darlin' should definitely be higher. I think it's my favorite from GL and one of my all-time favorites from her. She wrote it herself and I think it's especially interesting she wrote it when she was 15, before she had a record deal, and so it's really cool to hear a song she wrote from before she was famous. I know she wanted it for an album for a long time but never had the chance, so it was good that she finally was able to release it and it was the perfect album for it. The lyrics are really strong and her voice sounds great. I never understood why she never performed this live, such a shame. Freak Out is one of my top favorites from UMS and I wish the album had more songs like this to kind of balance out that dark, moody, depressing vibe. The intro is one of her best riffs ever. Yeah the lyrics are nothing special, but neither are most of the songs from UMS? I also like that Matt and Evan helped write this, which I always thought meant she probably wrote it while on tour and it's really cool to think about Let Go era Avril writing this while on tour and just having fun one night with her band coming up with the riffs. Breakaway - There is a reason she gave this away. Her demo is just... ok. I mean she sounds very young on it, that's why she sounds "strange." She also doesn't sound super into singing it which is why she gave it away. It was cool to hear her version after so many years, but the song was really better off in Kelly's hands. It doesn't help that all we have of Avril's version is a demo. KOHD - I never liked her cover of this much. It's sounds so dark and depressing, which I guess is kind of the point of the song, but even the original doesn't sound as depressing as this. I preferred the version she did at Roxy where the key was brought up a little and she sounded less depressed singing it. Get Over It - I find this to be one of the most overrated B-sides. It would never have fit in on LG at all. It's ok, but I don't think it's as good as people say. WLYG - I always really liked this one. I haven't listened to it in a long time though. LMG - Yeah I'm not crazy about Chad's verse onwards, but one thing that does make up for this kind of lackluster Nickleback reject is the outro. Like the "Don't let me go, won't let you go" part and the piano parts are so haunting. They should have tried to make a whole song based on that or make it like an interlude kind of thing. Adia - This has always been one of her best covers. FYI she didn't just sing this at Roxy, there is an actual studio recording of this cover if you didn't know HDIF - This is my least favorite track from UMS and probably my least favorite song she's ever done. I agree with emerald, I just think it's so damn boring. Bad lyrics. Repetitive. Terribly overrated. Naked - Underrated. Very late '90s inspired sound that suits LG so well. It's a really nice track IMO.

Naked and Won't Let You Go deserved higher spots.
Adia is probably her best cover.
I like How Does It Feel. The lyrics are tragic at some parts, though.
Breakaway is meh. I'm glad she gave it to some american idol singer instead of recording it for one of her albums.
The other ones got the place they deserved imo.

How Does It Feel i so underrated by her and by the fans. The lyrics are simple ok, but the instrumental is her best ever and the way it goes along the lyrics is simple perfect. That's the kind of pop-rock i want from her. It deserves more. JUSTICE FOR HOW DOES IT FEEL

, but the instrumental is her best ever and That’s a bold statement considering it’s mostly the same muted chord and then two more. But I’ll support you because the orchestral arrangements and production are impeccable. The lyrics are mostly weak but I’ve always been touched by “I am young and I am free But I get tired and I get weak I get lost and I can’t sleep” I feel that. edit: and her high notes? Ramona snapped there.

My god, "How does it feel" is one of her best songs. I totally agree with heaven. The progression in the instruments, the violin, piano, her vocals,.. etc is super intense. I adore that song since that moment in spring 2004 when I first listened to it. I was 14 and I cried rivers with my teenagers problems while listening to "How does it feel", even if my english was very bad and I couldn't understand all the things she said. The lyrics are basic, but knowing is a teenager singing from an emo perspective is totally understandable. For me is a Top 5 for sure. Darlin is nice, but that's all I can say about that song. I think it has the position it deserves. Freak Out is very enjoyable, the instrumental is top, I love the song. Won't let you go is one of her best unreleased tracks, I like more than Keep Holding on. Naked is also one of the best in her debut album. The first time I listened to "Get Over it" i couldn't understand why they don't choose this song instead of "My world" to keep on the album. The covers are very nice.
I think all the songs that are above the 40 position are very good.

Here's To Never Growing Up is so loved, i just wonder why.
Hot is another underrated song, the vocals are pure eargasm, the lyrics are very good, the sound too.
I know many fans don't love Push for her high vocals, but i think that make the song , they suite with the message of the chours: she just screams to the lover her feelings. And the backing vocals on the final chours? PURE MAGIC.
Runaway is another pop-rock masterpiece, the kinda type of song that TBDT should have had more.

Runaway is probably the best song on TBDT in my opinion, or one of the best!
Love LOVE Falling Fast and Push!

Love Forgotten and Hot. WTH is ok I suppose but not one I really listen to, HTNGU is awful.
Alice bores me, same for Falling Fast. Push would be ok if it wasn’t for her horrendous vocals in the chorus.
Not Enough is a gem on a boring album. He Wasn’t and Runaway are just fab.

I mostly agree with that rating. I just would've put "Not Enough", "He Wasn't", and "Hot" higher, both are 10/10 for me. NE is so emotional and has amazing drums and one of the best, most powerful outros ever. HW is simply really fun and aggressive, I've always loved it. "Hot" is definitely the best song off TBDT. The instruments and vocals are simply pure magic.
I can't believe HTNGU is supposed to be better than songs like "Darlin", TMTA, "Naked", "Alone", "Get Over It", HDIF, basically half the songs that Avril ever put out. It's just kinda lame imo. The autotuning is too excessive, the gang vocals are a little annyoing, and the lame-ass drums are the worst. The lyrics, meh, used to love them, but I feel like I've outgrown them by now. Something about this song also feels too slow somehow... idk it just kinda drags on.

Forgotten - Years ago I never really liked this song and then I listened to it one day while listening to UMS and realized how good it really is, especially the production with those violins and the frantic atmosphere. And then the chorus is like BAM with the guitars. I feel like it's kind of one of the more underrated songs from UMS?
Hot - This was another one that grew on me more recently. I used to not like it much, but I kind of like it more now.
What The Hell - Always been a bop. I don't think I like it as much now as I used to though.
Alice - I have always loved this one, it's probably in my top 5 of her songs. She wrote it herself and plays piano on it and I think it fit in really well with the movie. She did a really good job IMO writing a song for the film, she really matched Tim Burton's gothic style so well. Her vocals are screechy on the chorus though.
Push - This would be so much better if her voice wasn't so screechy on the chorus. Other than that, it's a good song. It's a little better live though I think.
Falling Fast - I like this one too, especially because it's self-written. I used to think it was boring but then I grew to like it and it's beautifully understated. Best lyric: "I never knew I needed you like a sad song needs a sea of lighters."
Not Enough - One of the best songs from GL. Wish the album had been a bit more like this. And yeah the last couple choruses are so epic with the background vocals (It's not enough, it's not enough FOR MEEEE!!!)
Runaway - One of the best from TBDT.
He Wasn’t - Always loved this one. One of my faves from UMS.
Here’s To Never Growing Up - Seriously, how did this rank above any of these songs? It's honestly probably one of the worst songs she's ever released. Terrible production, really juvenile lyrics and not even in a cheeky, fun way like Hello Kitty or Sk8er Boi. Her voice sounds god awful on it. Too much autotune. It's kind of fun to have on in the background if you're not really listening to it or I imagine it would be fun to sing along with at karaoke or like drunk with friends, but otherwise... meh. Can we just forget she ever released this?

My World - This one is so underrated and I never knew why. I love that it has autobiographical lyrics and that it gives us a glimpse of what her life was like growing up in Napanee. I love the sound of it too, it's like this late '90s pop thing. It is a little gem of sorts, folk who grew up in small towns in bumfuck nowhere can relate to at least parts of it, and it has this super naive yet bratty vibe, especially the live versions. A good late 90s ear candy indeed.
