Just booked in my first vaccine (Pfizer) for tomorrow afternoon I'm scheduled for Astra Zeneca friday, and honestly I'm not sure if I'll go.. I'd rather have Pfizer/Biontech or Moderna..

Yeah I was very unsure what to do if they offered me AZ. Luckily our local surgery tell you what vaccine you’re getting before you book, which I don’t think many in england actually do!

Had my first dose of Pfizer yesterday. It was fine. Just a little ache in my arm today but nothing else. Though from past replies here it sounds like people felt a bit worse after the second one? But that’s 11 weeks away so all good.

I actually felt more arm pain with the first dose of Pfizer. The second dose was a dull ache. Other than that, I didn't have any symptoms. Except maybe being a little sleepy the next day but that may have been the evening hot sun making me doze off.

I’ve decided to start entering the lottery more regularly cos I just feel like my millions are overdue now I just entered a new game being run by the Ohio State Lottery Commission. It's called... It's open to permanent residents 18 and over who have had at least one shot of a covid-19 vaccine. They are giving away five one million dollar prizes. For younger people between 12 and 17, they are having a drawing for full scholarships, to state run colleges. Different states are having various promotions to encourage people to get vaccinated. We're getting back to normal where I live. People who have been vaccinated are not required to wear masks, or social distance anymore. Of course, no one is asking for immunization records. The legal authority to do so does not exist. Private business theoretically can still require them, but I haven't seen any. The only downside for me personally is, I need to get used to shaving more often. I hope and pray that things get back to normal for everyone ASAP.

Oh thats a good idea - especially the scholarships!
Pubs etc have opened up now but otherwise not much has really changed here. You still have to wear masks and social distance vaccinated or not. All restrictions are due to end on 21st June but that’s all a bit up in the air at the moment. We’ve vaccinated so much of the vulnerable population I can’t really see a reason for holding off any longer. Think there’s some concern about the Indian variant but i dunno - unless you shut down international travel forever these variants are just going to keep coming. I just can’t wait to get on a plane lol. We’re going to holiday in the U.K. this year but we’ve got Costa Rica booked for Feb and I so hope it goes ahead, though the situation there doesn’t look great at the moment.

I didn't go for AZ, then they notified me that they happen to have free slots for Biontech/Pfizer even though I'm young, so I went! Hurts slightly in the arm, otherwise its alright. Emotionally, though, it hit me a lot.. made me really remember the whole ordeal from beginning to the end, the whole past year.. We've lost many folks and many other things during all this..

Ah that’s good then! I don’t think I’d have gone for AZ either tbh - luckily they’re not offering it to under 40s here anymore. Yeah I kinda feel the same - I think in a few years we’ll look back and think what a rollercoaster this last year or so was. Like, if anyone had told me 2 years ago we’d basically be told not to leave our houses for months on end, planes would be grounded pretty much worldwide, shops etc would be shut for the best part of a year, I’d have thought they were mental lol

It hit me emotionally too. As I stood in line I thought of my godmother and uncle and how they barely missed the vaccine. And now California is about to go maskless and open up completely. What a crazy year.

As I stood in line I thought of my godmother and uncle and how they barely missed the vaccine. And now California is about to go maskless and open up completely. What a crazy year. And so many people didn't even get to say goodbye to folks in hospitals, or even at funerals, and now it seems more and more as if nothing ever really happened.. like, this wasn't a war where you see markings of destruction everywhere, to most of us it was nothing like what people experienced in world wars, but there still has been a major psychological impact on a lot of us, its just such a different, new experience, where the deaths occur silently, and where you just can't know if it'll be like a regular illness to you, or whether you'll end up in ICU. And all the economic uncertainty, fear, and the movement restrictions, for months I wasn't able to visit my mom, and she doesn't even live far away, the restrictions were just very severe for quite some time.. One thing that also made the whole thing worse was just how lost governments were on tackling all of it. Last spring they went from "everything A-ok", to "its just two-week closure", to months of closure with indefinite outcome within a very short time, and you literally could sense how not a person in the world was certain how the whole thing was going to end. To me last spring, and to a lesser degree last autumn, were almost the worst times of my life, even though I was physically okay.

Some places in the U.S. are giving away tokens and coupons to people who get the vaccine. They can be exchanged at local bars for alcoholic beverages. It's called the Shots for shots program. I'm not joking. The State of Washington has a program called Joints for jabs. That's right. They are giving away cannabis to people that get vaccinated. Again. not joking. 😂😂😂

So I’ve read a lot of comments that you guys are vaccinated or have 1 shot to go. How is it? I mean I hesitate a bit myself. I’m not scared of needles but it’s more the vaccin itself. Is it enough? Do we have to get it next year again? What are the effects on long terms (like 20+ years from now)? It was created so super fast I’m a bit scared. Usually vaccins take like 10+ years to create. Is it because the whole world was focusing on this? My body is exhausted itself so how will it react to a vaccine? I don’t know… I don’t get my mind calm enough to think what it’s best. I’m just scared.

I’m just scared. I’ve had my first dose of Pfizer and it was fine, just a painful arm for a few days. But yeah I do feel the same as you - I wasn’t sure about getting it and I’m still not sure how I feel about it tbh. We have holidays abroad booked for next year so I kind of felt like I had to get it to be able to travel, but I’m not completely comfortable with it to be honest, for the same reasons you said. Like I’m sure it’s safe for most people, but the reality is we don’t know the long term effects (like we didn’t know about the blood clots with AZ before it was rolled out to the masses!), and as I’m fairly young I do feel like my risk of Covid is pretty low, and the unknown about the potential future effects of the vaccine is on my mind a little. But i just kind of saw it as I’m 29, I want to be able to continue to travel in the next few years because that’s what I enjoy, so i just felt like I had to go ahead and get it. If I didn’t want to travel I wouldn’t be in any rush to be vaccinated to be honest.
