I will never understand why people* say they are happy that the masks are gone because they were annoyed by them - while we still have thousands of daily new infections, hundreds of people dead or still fighting for their lives in the hospital, no plan for keeping children save etc. I could never be happy about it. I would wear this mask for years if it could stop the spread and give researchers the time to find further solutions. To open everything while other countries struggle to vaccinate their people is terrible imo. (*not directed at you Bogo, I have heard the same from many people here) I'm really happy and relieved that I will get my second shot tomorrow. I haven't had any bad experience with it, same with my friends. All of them are fine and relieved to be vaccinated. I would encourage everyone to get the vaccination, it's our only solution right now. Simple - most people don’t like wearing them. It’s not like I didn’t wear one when going out to stores, church, etc. But I’d rather not wear one if given the choice. It’s annoying. It was annoying to have to always remember to bring one everywhere and it would get hot after a while or fog up my glasses. Sometimes I get stomachaches or feel nauseous, it’s not a comfortable feeling having to have my mouth covered when I feel nauseated and on the verge of vomiting. Sometimes I’d get anxious in public and feel like I couldn’t breathe, wearing a mask just increased that anxiety. I’m fully vaccinated - I have no reason to wear a mask at this point. Only those who aren’t vaccinated should still be required to wear one. Everybody feels differently about masks. For some it’s no big deal, some people already wear masks all the time for their work and are used to it. For others it’s uncomfortable and feels unnatural. I don’t agree with those who went around refusing to wear one, it’s not a difficult thing to do even if it might feel uncomfortable, but I don’t blame anyone for being glad they’re gone now that many are vaccinated. I might still wear one from time to time during the winter if I’m going out shopping or whatever to avoid getting the common cold or flu. I had the flu in early 2020 (it may have even possibly been COVID for all I know) and I never want to experience that again (I had the flu shot a few months before and still got sick). It was nice not to get sick with the common cold or flu again this year. Masks may be something I keep on hand for the future. But for now being fully vaccinated and being around 80-90 degrees F where I live? Yeah, fuck that.

Ugh my fiancé just told me a woman who came into his work yesterday for a production is now hospitalized with COVID even though she got vaccinated. He’s hoping that since he’s also fully vaxxed, they were both wearing masks, and interacted for less than 15 minutes that he will be ok. But this is kind of the shit I’m talking about - this thing is just never going away and unless we all want to wear masks for the rest of our lives and stay inside you’re probably going to end up just getting it at some point, no matter how careful you are, what precautions you take, and if you’re vaccinated. After a year and a half of this shit, I’m not surprised most people have gotten fed up with and lost patience. We can’t enforce lockdowns and mask wearing forever, even if some people might be willing to do that, it’s unrealistic to expect every single person to put up with that indefinitely. We can’t live like this forever. A year and a half was bad enough.

We had to go back to wearing masks in my city. I think we only lasted about a month without having to wear them if we were vaccinated. A lot of the people who have gotten sick are those unvaccinated though. Idk how it it is in other countries but I think it's better to get the vaccine to lower the risks. Just not the Johnson & Johnson vaccine since it's less effective against Delta (they just announced).

Am I the only one getting major anxiety with all these bands who “care” about their fans and are hosting massive events and concerts in the US? I wonder when these people decided to give 0 fucks about this pandemic that has taken millions of lives. Of course cases would rise again, and it’s a pity to see the US getting there again after having seemed to have it all under control. I know it’s not just because of the concerts, but they’re definitely not helping this get any better. What sickens me is that I love some of these bands (like Fall Out Boy and All Time Low) but they’re being fucking reckless pretending nothing happened and that this is over when it’s not, and it’s getting worse. I’m sure they were concerned about not getting their extra couple of millions of dollars or anything they could pull out of it. Makes me wonder if they care about anything other than money…
I can’t help but cringe every time is scroll through one of their posts on my feed with literally thousands of people thronged together. It’s not cute or nice, it’s complete recklessness and idiocy at its finest.

I think bands are touring in areas where the rules are more lax, aka southern states that never really gave a shit in the first place.
On the one hand I’m not sure how long anyone can expect artists not to tour, it’s kind of their livelihood and as it is they’ve already been out of work for a year and a half. Over half the population in the US has had at least one shot. Some venues require proof of vaccination. At some point it just becomes unrealistic to expect things to be shut down this long even though many people are vaccinated and the risk is significantly lower.
On the other hand, even though I think we can’t leave things this way forever, and I’ve been fully vaccinated since May, I get nervous when I see huge crowds like that too, like Lollapalooza. Just whole crowds of people together with no masks and no distancing, shouting in each other’s faces. It’s a recipe for disaster because I’m sure not every single person there is vaccinated. 99% of the new hospitalizations because of the delta variant are from unvaccinated people.
I don’t think there’s necessarily anything wrong with having concerts again, especially outdoors, but it should be done safely and responsibly. Put distancing guidelines in place and maybe require masks. If distancing is not possible, require proof of vaccination.
I think some artists do care about their fans and aren’t touring until it’s safe to do so (Avril, Taylor, Ariana). Others I think just pretend they care but the reality is that everyone needs to make money and earn a living. Football stadiums and other sports venues have also been operating pretty much at full capacity all year - corporations don’t care when there is money at stake. That’s kind of just the way it is. I don’t blame small artists for trying to make their living, however bigger artists and corporations like the NFL and MLB can certainly afford to take the hit.

I don’t think it’s them not caring about their fans - they’re doing what they’re allowed to do within regulations and it’s up to the individual fans if they go or not. And I don’t think artists like Avril are holding off until it’s safe to tour - they’re holding off until it’s convenient to tour - ie when travel restrictions are relaxed.

Right - it’s not like if the artists are told they can do a show that they’re going to say no, unless they themselves feel unsafe.
And yeah I think in Avril’s case she is waiting until she can tour or when the new album is out. I think Taylor cares a lot more because of her mom but also because her shows are in stadiums and it’s not really known what the guidelines should be for venues that big. And Ariana is pretty pro-vaccine so she’d kind of look hypocritical if she was having big concerts. Especially because some of her fans are too young to get vaccinated.

Last week I got my first dose of Pfizer vaccine and September 13th my second dose. I decided to do it since we don't have to wear masks anymore and they are gonna allow a lot again (too much I think). But this virus is never going to disappear. We have to find a way to live with it and also being able to do the things we did before. Maybe in a different way but I don't see touring and going to concerts as a safe thing now.

Got my booster vaccine tomorrow of Pfizer before work. Was double vaccinated with AstraZeneca and having a booster. I just hope it doesn't knock me out so I will be able to go to work. AstraZeneca sent me to sleep. Apparently Pfizer has less side effects and is more effective. I don't care about Corona any more insofar as I rarely wear a mask and I am living my life as normal now. I get tested every week at work so I will know when to self isolate if I get it.

I have finally got some glasses 👓 that I can see clearly with. Have had poor eyesight for ages which has been holding me back at work and probably not making me safe to drive. Only problem is that I have to wait another two weeks before I get some contact lenses. How do you wear a mask at work and glasses without them steaming up? This is my dilemma.

I always have to work like that (even before covid) and with safety glasses so they're pain in the ass. The trick is to move your glasses a bit so they stand slightly different on your nose, and control your breathing. That's my advice.

Some guy I was working next to today tested positive for Covid-19 and was sent home. I hope I haven’t caught it.
