I’ve hit the drink too, got to have something to look forward to at the end of the day. I’m still having to got to work as I’m classified a “key worker” which is a worry because I live with my mothers who’s 70, so in the vulnerable category. What do you do if you don't mind my asking? I work for the UK civil service (DWP)

So now we're likely getting a ban on leaving municipality without allowance, which will limit folk to a 15km area around them, and older people 65+ will be banned from leaving home, except from 8-10am. Terrific.

We don’t have a lockdown (yet?) people are now more secure with the rules since they will charge people for getting on the street with more then 3 persons or throwing Corona parties. Grocery stores have marks on the floor now where you have to enter the store and how to walk in the store. That’s necessary but also crazy to me since I’m not stuck at home. Would be different if I was too I guess. Only thing is in my free weekends such as this one, it’s a pity you can’t go somewhere to go shopping or seeing friends. It’s just when I go to the store, I go straight ahead back home. Same after I finish work every day. But I see it now like I have to take it easy after work so that helps a bit I think? It’s just a really weird situation. I hope you all stay safe!

I don't know why, but for some reason people are lining up at regular checkouts in grocery stores, sometimes waiting for minutes to get through, while the self-checkouts are barely getting any traffic where I shop. Is elsewhere a similar occurrence?

People might be afraid to touch the screens on the self checkout because of germs. Though I would assume those are being wiped down.

We’ve been having our groceries delivered using Instacart. Excellent service. They put the bags on the front porch so we have no physical interaction and then we unpack the stuff outside, wipe it down with disinfectant, and throw away the delivery bags in the outside trash can. This is what our doctor friend is doing as well. Be safe everyone and apparently the number one transmission vector is touching your face.

When I get into my car, I use hand sanitizer. Anything I bought gets left outside in the sunlight. Let UV radiation sanitize it. If it must go immediately in the refrigerator, I wipe it down with alcohol. If I start to run out of alcohol, I can distill my own. Don't tell anyone. Since we're talking about alcohol... I thought of this three weeks ago. Then, I did the math. They recommend hand sanitizer be 60% alcohol. .08% blood alcohol content = Drunk driving .40% blood alcohol content = Coma. .50% blood alcohol content = Death. 60% blood alcohol content = 120 times the fatal dosage. Okay. Let's give it the old college try.

Not only that, it's mandatory to put single-use gloves on upon entering any store, so vast majority is literally touching the screen with gloves. Way less risk to go on self checkout than to stand in line and interact with employee.

Last May, I bought a case of 1000 latex gloves from amazon. I like to use them in the kitchen for food prep and cleaning. I used to buy them locally, one box of 100, at a time. Cost $8 a box. They ran out and I had to buy vinyl. I really hate them. When I went looking on amazon, I found them for a reasonable price. To get free shipping, I had to buy a whole case, for $45. I checked to see what shocking price they might be selling for now. I was surprised they were available for only $50. I've read amazon and ebay were suspending accounts for price gouging. Good for them. There is a guy from Tennessee who got stuck with almost 18,000 bottles of hand sanitizer. He was banned by amazon and ebay. lmao The case is under investigation by the state's attorney general's office. Lock him up.

Here in SVN the stores provide you those transparent "gas station/fruit and vegetable section" ones for free. They arent comfortable, but they do the job. The bigger issue right now is that covering faces in public becomes mandatory at midnight in an emergency new law here, and there's nowhere to buy new masks. Besides that, I have really bad allergies in April and May, and I usually used those medium grade masks to make it through, but this year I can't find one seller that isn't price gauging - 2 Euro masks are being sold for 20-50 Euro ffs.

I was going to say... I don't remember any law being passed in the US that we have to use gloves when shopping now lol Won't be surprised if it does become required at some point though, especially if other places are doing it.
Yes price gouging in times of crisis should be illegal if it isn't already and whoever does it should face some sort of legal consequences. At least that guy was forced to donate all his sanitizer I think.

I myself have not been in a store since March 13, my boyfriend does the shopping(groceries) and I stay at home with our son .. so bizarre .. I always did the shopping(groceries) So I really miss it now.. how strange is that?! Ordering groceries online is useless for now, everything is full for the next 2 to 3 weeks.. Please stay safe everyone ..

And the weasel even went yapping to the New York Times about the "injustice" perpetrated towards his "public service", as he called it. Driving from town to town in small town America, stripping local supplies to the bones, what a damn service he was doing.

I always use the self-checkout. It goes way more quick and is indeed wiped clean. I always have alcohol for my hands in my bag so after shopping I use it and back home ofcourse immediately wash my hands and disinfect them again. My hands are dry and sore from all the washing tho. I go once or maybe twice a week to the store for groceries now. Not more often.
