Almost 500k first day is AMAZING. The demand for rockier music by her is real!
She could make some noise with the proper lead single, banners on iTunes and Spotify and better playlist placements.
Just for comparison:
HAW opened with 834k
Tell Me It's Over 615k

Also, she gained over 200k new monthly listeners only yesterday

So her monthly listeners on Spotify increased +200k and now passed 12 million listeners. So Flames probably did +200k stream on its first day which is on par with the songs YouTube views. I guess it would be around 200k streams if those people only listened to the song once, but that was not the case I suppose... And also there are the old "monthly listeners" that heard the song. I'm quite surprised with the numbers tbh I'm also really happy for Mod Sun |

I really hate how Spotify counts the streams. As a kpop fan as well, i know you have to do basically acrobatics to make the streams and views count. Putting the song on repeat is definitely a NO for this to work. And sadly, i think we've all been doing that xD including myself. I kinda feel bad but thatps what you do when you like a song right?
Anyways my point is that those numbers are porbably lower than the actual times the song has been heard or played.

I really hate how Spotify counts the streams. As a kpop fan as well, i know you have to do basically acrobatics to make the streams and views count. Putting the song on repeat is definitely a NO for this to work. And sadly, i think we've all been doing that xD including myself. I kinda feel bad but thatps what you do when you like a song right? Anyways my point is that those numbers are porbably lower than the actual times the song has been heard or played. Repeat doesn't count for Youtube, but for a limited amount of times (I think until 15 or 20 times) it counts for Spotify. I don't think it counts more than this per day overall for each listener, though... Which still means the real number of plays might indeed be a bit bigger than those 494k. I mean, I listened to it more than 20 times yesterday. |

Eh I feel like thatβs a concept that has been done in quite a lot of songs, it isnβt really that unique of a concept. This. It's been done for decades. Especially in rock music. Am I the only one, for whom it still didn't grow? >.< Hi there!
I must say I feel like my head is on backwards seeing all these super positive reactions. Not that I mind that many of you love it, that's great!  I just don't see how it's anything but a decent track that could have been great with more work put into it? I've listened to it a few times now and it doesn't really grow that much for me. I don't get more or less excited, it's just "ok". I doubt I'd want to listen to it much more like I have with some of Avril's own discography or even Mod Sun's other singles. I keep hearing the repetition, Avril and Mod Sun's vocals not really meshing very well, how quickly it's over as soon as the energy builds and some of the in my opinion oddly rushed feeling sections. I'm starting to think many of you are (understandably) happy you finally got something decent after a long wait while of course for me the same anticipation hasn't been there so I just can't really see it with the same eyes. Or maybe it's some form of Stockholm syndrome for you repeat listeners.  Again: great that you're all happy! It's just that seeing such overwhelming hype and positivity makes me feel a bit crazy for thinking it's just decent? For me it's probably the nostalgic feel of pop-rock more than Avril herself. That's what I listened when i was a kid and teenager, basically only pop-rock, pop-punk, some alternative rock, emo-rock. The juicy stuff of the 2000's lol. And now that is coming back...i'm like: πππ !!! But regarding Flames, it's actually the las chorus that gets me. It's just amazing the energy, the guitars and the hype idk. In fact when i first heard the song and it started SO slow and with the piano I was like: wth? what is this. And during the song i was: ok...i like it i guess. So it wasn't until the climax came that i was like: OMG, this is it xD of course it feels short somehow but i also appreciate it's not the same throughtout the entire song. As a side note: i was pleasently surprised by modsun's vocals, I don't like his voice that much during the verses, but DAMN, he can belt. and i love his raspiness. He has a good voice. At least i like it in this song idk xD |

I don't know how much credibility this holds cause I know nothing about algorithms or that kinda of stuff. But these are kpop fans...like they are pro-streamers xD so i guess they know what they're doing (?) i seriously don't know but they take it really seriously to help their faves. Arianators do the same i think (or at least similar ways of streming idk). YOUTUBE: Important Subscribe to "X" Youtube channel. Like the videos. Don't skip ads with a duration of fewer than 30 seconds. Don't watch videos related to "X" in the first 24h uploaded by unofficial channels (Color-coded lyrics, reactions, etc). Don't download the mv in the first 24h. Avoid uploading more than 30/45 seconds of the mv on social media the first week. How to stream correctly? Quality: +480p, Volume: +50%. Like the video when it is finished or views will be frozen. Search manually the mv ["X" - "title song"]. Stream with a Youtube account, just one per device. Don't comment with the word "stream" and avoid using emojis. Pause or advance whatever video once per hour. The views are counted every 10 minutes, watch 3 different videos after you finished watching the mv. Don't use a playlist in the first 24h, the views will be counted slow. Don't use incognito mode or stream on multiple tabs. Use embedded links. Plus You can stream from your phone without being on Youtube, just activate desk mode on Google. SPOTIFY: Important Follow "X" Add the song to favorites. Share the link of the album and the track on social media to make it trend. Use official playlists of Spotify. How to avoid having bot behaviors? Don't loop the song. Don't shuffle the playlists. Volume should be more than 50%. Turn off autoplay [Home > Settings > Playback] Skip and pause some songs, it's important to interact with the playlist. Make more than three playlists with the songs that you want to stream (also when "title song" releases will be provided some playlist). The playlist should have songs of another artist that isn't "artist name" and another genre of music. So yeah....i don't really know but this is what i found. This is from last summer (2020) so....idk if anything has changed but... |

They need to do everything right this time tho To think HAW could have peaked inside the top 50 if it had been released on the Friday instead of a Wednesday I think they learned the lesson. BMG did amazing job with Kylie Minogue's last album rollout, so I expect nothing less. Plus, she's with a new (and so far, better) management agency. |
