Yes. They should start to hype people up. We are on Tuesday and on Thursday it will probably be possible to listen to it on spotify / itunes new zealand time, so .. If they don't publish anything today I will be disappointed. Some short video with the instrumental and the title / date ... I don't know, something.

Artists, especially US-based one, tend to forget about timezones and that a part of the world will get to heart their music basically a day in advance. Throughout the years I haven't seen a single artists that posted "from now on my new single will become available as it hits midnight in your country", it's always *at midnight ET* "my new song is out now".  Anyway, I really wish Avril would start announcing her music 2-3 days in advance is she doesn't plan to hype her music any further until the release date. |

In my experience, singles usually get released at one specific time, not at midnight wherever you are (unlike albums). So I don't think we'll get to hear the song in less than 48 hours because of New Zealand. We'll all have to wait. I'm expecting Modsun (and Avril) to announce the exact time of the release any day now. They may make an exception and release the song at midnight, though, so I might be wrong. I'm just speculating.  |

Big artists who care about debuting high in the US do it that way that the song gets released at midnight ET everywhere in the world. Both "Karma" and "Bones" had a "released once it turns midnight in your country" release.

Yeah, when I posted released at midnight in New Zealand, I meant only in New Zealand and then it will gradually be released when it turns midnight in a specific country.
That's the usual procedure for albums so they get a full track week in all countries. Downpoint to that is, that a song or album has a whole day of being consumed illegally until it's officially released in the US.
Now, big artist, when it comes to singles, release the song at one point globally (usually midnight ET so it has a full tracking week in the US for the Billboard charts) but Mod Sun is indie, never a song chart, probably doesn't even care and hos other two singles where released "gradually".

I didn't know Modsun's other singles were released "once it's midnight in your country". I guess that means the chance that "Flames" will ge the same release is quite high. But I do want to repeat that I personally have recently mostly experienced singles being released at one specific time, meaning the entire world got it at exactly the same moment (e.g. 3 pm ET, meaning 9 pm for me here in Germany, 12 pm for people in California, etc.). I've seen this from artists barely anyone knows and from hugely popular artists such as Billie Eilish. But it doesn't really matter anyway, does it? We'll get the song some time on Friday one way or another. |

If the song is released when midnight hits on each country, the song will be out by miday in Europe on Thursday 7th, even if it can't be officially streamed here. Which means the song would be out for some countries on the morning of the 7th in US. If you mean everyone can officially stream it the 8th, then yeah, we all be able to hear it soon . |

I don't understand this at all. I remember What Child Is This came out earlier in other countries, it was part of an album. But for the most part songs come out at the same time.

I don't know but if the single comes with a music video isn't better to release it at a specific hour? That...or maybe the music video comes out some hours after the song. The midnight thing in every country seems too stupid to me. Pick a date, hour and release it. Everyone get the song at the same time. (that's what they do in kpop and it always works, no spoilers, no leaks, nothing. everyone gets the song at the same time)
