But perhaps Avril would want more money and Big Music cannot afford it Why would she want more money for supporting her partner's thing? That would be really weird to me. Is it common to make big demands even when you're more personally involved in a project? I'd think people would mostly work along easily with those they're close with because they simply want to.
Because itβs business and it wouldnβt be anything unusual in the industry. You do not do such things for free, without a contract. If she did it for free, it also must be formally stated, including the amount of her involvement. Donβt forget she agreed to record Flames before they started dating. Most of collabs donβt work out, even if musicians like the concept of the track and the possibility, because of money, royalties, promo (schedules) conflicts etc. |

Yeah it's business. Kind of off topic but it reminds me of Halsey and The Chainsmokers collab how she got more money. Then TC were mad at her afterwards because they didn't read the contract.

I honestly love the song, think the acoustic version is decent and we haven't got a decent acoustic version from Avril for a long time.
The single version is on my workout playlist and it super energetic the way it builds up makes it nice to have in the middle of the workout. Unfortunately it loses strength at the end but still nice.

Honestly I'm happy for him and for Avril too if this can help seeing "her name" on alternative charts and radio plays. Sadly Avril's voice was not heard in radios since Here's to never growing up, so it's not a bad thing. I think we're all so eager to hear AL7 that we're tired of Flames but the song is not bad at all. |

It's also probably the first true pop-rock song she's made since 2007. Flames could've easily fit UMS or even LG (with the instrumentation of that time obviously).
