Ugh that last track. I will completely hate that song just for being less than 2 minutes long. A complete waste of track, just like Black Star was, but GL was a 14-track album and with 3-4 min length songs, so I never really hated it for that.
At least there are three or four songs over 3 min long, which I didn’t really expect other than the ballad.

I will forgive the duration of break of a heartache only and ONLY if it is an outro to a 2nd album, otherwise I will be so disappointed, the title was so promising, but I guess it would be a good idea to make break of a heartache an outro to a 2nd album that it would be great!

I too would prefer longer songs, but I'm not ruling out the last track just yet. It could be a really experimental outro song that doesn't go by the typical song formula of 2 verses, 3 choruses, and I'm here for that if that's the case. Maybe that's why they chose it as the last track on the album - to have it stand out and make more of an impact. We'll see!

Thanks for your album cover essay, ame, I'm glad someone could put my appreciation for this cover into words and from a photography point of view as well. I find this cover so visually pleasing, it's so well done! It sticks out from her other ones in a good way. And I still really like some of her other covers, they're not bad. I also think the cover draws attention to itself, especially because of the red color, like you said. It's catching your eye. Yay!
About the short track at the end... it might be a really cool outro and a good ending to the album, so I'm not mad about that just yet.

Wow, those songs are really short! I just mentioned in my post on LIWYHM how I miss songs with an intro, outro, proper bridge etc. and just overall some time and chance to let a song just be and let it breathe. But I guess there's a low chance we'll get that with this album. Not that that's a surprise. It seems most popular artists tend to release shorter songs these days, and pop-punk songs have always been rather short to begin with. I still hope Avril's new songs will at least not feel incomplete and too rushed.
"Break of a Heartache" really is super short, though. I'd never thought she'd release a proper song shorter than "Contagious". But maybe it's just some sort of outro, some last words to finish off the album?

So the average song length seems to be around 2.40 which isn't too bad. Avalanche feels like it's going to seem really long at 3.40 after the others

This last song can be actually the highlight of the album, the moving one. short songs aren’t bad, happen to be very very nice Agreed. For example, "Coming Clean" by Green Day is a very good, solid song imo, and it's only 1:35. |

Haha, love the enthusiasm!  I'd personally have the text occupy this space on the cover (see below). Also I'd have it slightly inclined to compliment the lines her body is making (and because I like a bit of asymmetry). Don't mind the actual font, it's just for spatial representation, although it does look kinda cool inverted  |

Interesting, I think you can overlap her eyes with your line in that corner to corner visual flow. And for the diagonal composition, I don't even think the "corner to corner" is tied. I would exclude all the text graphic and reamin her eyes as the only tunnel to draw focus from middle to corner and then to the left bottom corner as destination. Therefore, face as starting off point, there are two slope composition that one ends at the bottom left and the other ends at top left Of course, yes. It's not strictly connected through that diagonal meaning that they actually draw a line of "content" throughout the picture, just that you could connect the album title with the parental content sign creating a visual line yourself. AKA, they did it like that (putting those elements where they are) to create balance at the same time as putting them in diagonal. I don't know if i explained it better now or worse hahah but my pictures is like a combination of all i see. but i had to draw 6 different images to tell all i had in mind or everything i was seeing, sorry hahah there's no one way to observe art I guess. I might make it sound like a debate but not that way I intended to tho. Our minds are not the designer's mind what's so ever. |

A record has to be over 30 minutes long in order to chart. Otherwise it's classed as an EP.
