For some reason most of the songs are on LS and unreleased in key in F#. That is, Avril's voice is literally on the same notes from song to song. This creates a certain monotony in the album as a whole, and even people who do not know music theory notice this.

I think it was her most successful era after Goodbye Lullaby. I loved: - The first single Bite Me, it has Avril written all over it - The outfits made by that stylist since the very beginning. It's The Best Damn Thing Vibe, but orange and not pink. - It was overall way more organized than the messy HAW era. - Amazing photoshoots - I liked that she did Physical CDs, and cassettes ! - She finally toured Europe after so many years and I loved seeing the arena in my city sold out - She seems more connected with fans and less shy, she often stopped by to take photos, signings, way more than in the past, thank u Avril it was about time - Olivia Rodrigo covering her song and making her known to more people of the new Generation - The Star in Hollywood, finally, iconic. - Being so active on Tik Tok - Releasing LG 20th in the middle of the era - Avril attending Fashion Shows, she never did and so many other celebs always go and are always on the spotlight even if less talented imo What I didn't like: - Single choice (I understand why she chose Love it and Bois Lie, but I don't like them, nor I cared about listening to them live). Bite Me and Mess ok, Love Sux and Avalanche had to be 2nd and 3rd singles - Love Sux autographed cds became autographed art cards with the promise of a signed booklet which never arrived and her team never replied the mails taking the responsibility or simply explaining. It was a scam and they always remind us how unprofessional they are - Rush release of Love it When You hate Me as official single after the big debut on streaming, MV released too late, without premere on YT, and at random timing, with the result of being among the videos with less views ever. This was a bit messy - Late release of Bois Lie MV, after the tour with MGK was over, so non-sense (the video is very good though) - Late release of Love Sux Vinyls - Lack of promotion in Tv shows and stuff around USA and Europe. She always came here to sing the first singles on TV or radios, and did interviews months before the record came out (for the first 4 eras, the most successful ones). - Her dating Ty Ga I stil can't believe it - Her behavior towards Modsun, I won't forget easily - Poor Setlist on tour. - No early entry for tour and of the few available, too pricey (350 euros) Agreed for 100% and can only add about regret that she didn’t make a double album. These unreleased songs have not small views on SoundCloud and she just missed the opportunity to get official streams from fans, since she’s an artist for fans mostly. Idk what’s the problem woth her and label that they can’t afford to release more songs, but it’s so dumb from her team side + they know about leaks. Now it’s no matter for Love Sux: act 2 and the real way of making “special edition” is also impossible. Making a new album with leaked songs is also impossible cause she never did that. We can only pray for change in her perception to her own songs and that her label communicate more with fans and people from bandaids who contact with Avril would talk to her team, but they don’t care. So that’s like a lost opportunity and being pirate listening to these masterpieces Illegaly.

It would be amazing if they took the opportunity to “legalise” the leaks by doing an extra “live sux outtakes” on Spotify etc

I understand the frustration with the lack of officially released songs and good material getting left on the cutting room floor, but Avril’s not obligated to release everything she does. There could be many factors that come into play about why certain songs are released and others aren’t. At the end of the day, she’s the artist and it’s her work. It’s completely her decision/the label what gets released. Maybe some songs she just doesn’t want out there, whether she just doesn’t like them or thinks they’re not good, etc.

Like, are they in a room and play all the songs that they did and choose the worthy ones? The people participating in choosing the songs. Or Avril's team submit to her label the songs they feel to be included in the album and then the label will evaluate these songs.

I guess maybe Feldy and Mod didnt really challenge her and her voice, cause maybe they have less knowledge (than e.g. Chad) and ot was all about fun, not about doing a masterpiece. I do like the monotony/continuity of LS.

Some people have noticed that there are some songs that are similar (ex: Kiss Me, Californyeah, Too Fast to Live are kind of all more or less about a similar topic and similar vibe), so they might write a few songs that are alike and then choose 1 they think is the best of that bunch. And then we have her more vulnerable/emotional songs like DTLM, Avalanche, and Anesthesia (unless this is from AL8) where Avalanche and Anesthesia are kind of similar and they chose the stronger of the 2. They go on like this until there is a variety of songs and each genre/subject is represented, i.e. fun songs, fast songs, ballads, boy bashing, emotional, etc.

It would be amazing if they took the opportunity to “legalise” the leaks by doing an extra “live sux outtakes” on Spotify etc I haven’t seen this experience with other artists. For example kim Petra’s leaked her album because her label didn’t let her release them, but in Avril case she has her own permission and rights as I know so it should be easy like Taylor swift do with every album Version +37474 bonus tracks. Maybe DTA has a contract and they don’t allow, but that’s stupid. Songs like Avalanche and FU should be singles but they were not chosen so. DTA also not the best label:) but yeah everything is better than BMG:) if Avril is hard at making final decision she should listen to the label of her fans who know for sure, who ready to stream hood songs and listen to them hehe

Avril has always been against releasing unreleased tracks… she’s really only ever done it with her first and third album. For whatever reason she just doesn’t like expanded albums beyond 12 tracks. I think LS is done, and all the leaked tracks are going to stay that way. AL8 will probably be mostly from new sessions

What's weird when you look at it closer, is that, if you take all of her albums in general, not only Love Sux, plus every non-album and unreleased tracks, she'd have so much material left to do something with. She has over 200 official songs recorded, if not more.. i wonder why she keeps so many discarded tracks to herself ? We're not only speaking of 5 songs here, there's a LOT more ... (i'm aware that this should go in the leaked songs thread but since we're talking about it over here too...) ! Like some artists have like 15 ish, i'm like "well okay". But after 20 years and so many songs left unheard ?! I actually don't mind about the leaks, with all due respect towards Avril and her team, and it doesn't make me love her less or angry at the person who's behind the leaks, because we all know they're never gonna see an official release at this point, and some of them are gems, and it would definitely feel like a mistake not to hear them as a fan, personally. Then again, i do not believe she owes it to us or anything, but like, take "Joker" or "Teenage Nightmare" for example. Joker is like SO AVRIL. Teenage Nightmare made me nostalgic and emotional. Like, let's agree they shouldn't stay unheard lol! She'd have enough material to release a special edition or something.. and to keep these hidden is weird to me.. especially with SO MANY.

I still believe Teenage Nightmare could see an appearance in the documentary. It honestly makes sense why that wasn’t on LS because it doesn’t fit the theme at all.

I'll be glad if at least one of the tracks sees the light, officially. It would actually be a nice theme song or soundtrack along with the documentary .. "If i had to do it all again, i wouldn't do it differently!" It would fit!

I feel like -in her own weird way that oftentimes makes no sense- Avril is very particular and purposeful in which songs she chooses to put on an album (when not interfered with by the label). She makes her albums for herself and for the art of it. Someone like Taylor, who is putting tons of B-sides on her re-records, seems to make albums for the same reasons as Avril, but also thinking about what the fans might go crazy over. It’s part of the fun for her. So she probably has less of an issue with putting the re-recorded B sides from the vault on her Taylor’s Version albums because she knows how fun that would be for the fans -although from a pragmatic standpoint, if you’re wanting people to buy something they likely already have, you’d better give them good incentive (although that point is fairly moot now that Spotify and Apple Music exist and you can just download specific songs). I don’t see Avril releasing/re-recording a discarded song unless there was a very specific intent behind it such as the LG 20th edition. And even with that, Get Over It and I Don’t Give had already been released in an official capacity of some sort. I feel like Why was as well, though obviously not the version on the 20th anniversary, but I can’t remember where. Which is a long way of saying, I think Avril takes the standpoint of “if the song didn’t make the cut the first time, why would I release it now?” And also because I think she really keeps the eras separate in her mind. If she’s onto the next era, why would she release songs from previous eras that probably don’t reflect her current relationship and impending breakup how she’s currently feeling. Obviously to fans, we think it makes perfect sense to release them, because they’re good songs, but she moves on to the next era literally while touring/promoting her current one lol -she’s already forgotten they exist.
