Based on the snippets I’ve heard, these are the songs that made most of an impression on me so far and that I’m most excited to hear in full: - Bois Lie - Kiss Me Like the World is Ending - Avalanche (though I think the chorus seems too repetitive) - F.U. - Dare to Love Me The ones that I’m eh on and need to hear the full thing: - Cannonball (don’t like how it seems like some kind of DB/HK hybrid?) - Love Sux - Deja Vu - All I Wanted - Break of a Heartache We’ll see if my opinions change after hearing the full songs.
My list is very similar based on just previews. Avalanche (though the chorus sounds repetitive) and F.U are my favorites by far already I think. I would change the places of Bois Lie and KMLTWIE (not abbreviation being almost longer than the full name ) with All I Wanted and Break Of A Heartache or Deja Vu on my list. I listened to iTunes previews by the way and they were quite long that it's almost like a half album in total.

Overall I just don't get along well with the short songs which really hampers my enjoyment of this album. It prevents me from really getting into things and IMO often breeds repetitiveness that lacks variety. Sadly I think this is a bit the case on this album though to its credit I will say quite a few of the songs have a small (creative) surprising section. It is also more alternative than I was expecting and matches what she was describing which is commendable IMO. I think it's among her best produced albums which bumps it up (Mod Sun's backing vocals felt forced to me when they showed up though). Overall I think it's an objectively decent album that most fans will love, and has I think even quite a bit of mainstream potential as evident by how many tracks I feel are "radio friendly", but for my own tastes I feel it's lacking a certain level of creativity/variety. Most of it just sounds so similar which is a good thing for cohesion but can also be rather dull (to me at least) and while there are a few clever lyrics most of it seems a bit undercooked to me.
It's difficult for me to say where it'll land after this first listen but I think most songs are solidly in the middle of the pack of everything she's ever done which overall is good but sadly I also find there are no true stand outs that I really want to listen to much more or will get a slot next to my favorites of her (perhaps Bite Me, Kiss Me Like The World is Ending, Deja Vu or F.U. will end up there after more listens). Pretty much my opinion .

It was obvious that i was talking about myself, my tastes, my way i see music.. call it ignorant is too much and i don't accept it. Don't agree with it? That's fine, but take my opinion down and just say that it's ignorant or between the lines i'm not educated enough to write about genres/music (''I think your argument is based entirely on a matter of taste imo, and not on quality.) well, take a step back and have some respect. I just think or sorry i must say PREFER The Best Damn Thing more. Is it a problem? Ok. I was not attacking your tastes or the way you see music, nor did I say you’re not educated enough to write about music. Nor was I being disrespectful. And I never said there was anything wrong with liking one album over another. But your argument against Love Sux seemed to be very biased and dismissive. Calling it 12 I Can Do Betters is ignorant to me sorry. I’m very passionate about this style of music so I wanted to give my opinion. Sorry if it stung. And yes your argument did seem to be based on taste so... Plus, while they may seem it at first glance, Love Sux and TBDT are very different from each other. Tbf all her albums are different from each other. And I’m very sad you don’t enjoy Love Sux cuz imo its a bloody good album front to back. One of her best in years. This style of music should make you wanna blast it at full volume on your stereo. Guess i'm a more mellow person, in fact i prefer Goodbye Lullaby and Head Above Water by miles. Like you said, tastes. It doesn't mean that i don't enjoy rock or heavier instrumentals cuz listening to REAL instrumentals is really good after all the synths/ minaml/snap fingers sound we have been hearing since years, i just think that it should have been more balance like TBDT. That's it.

OK after giving the songs several listens. All the fast upbeat songs are my favorite!! She definitely made a loud album which I need in my life atm. No sappy sad songs thank you, there's enough saddness in the world 😂
Dare To Love Me Deja Vu These two ain't feeling it yet. Avalanche is OK
At the beginning of Love Sux she should've had a guy shouted 1,2,3,4 like The Romones. I'd like more songs like Break Of A Heartache...hopefully the deluxe serve me those type of fast songs

Its time for my quick first time review) So lay back and read!
Firstly, it is really hard to compare this album to TBDT or any others albums cause it is unique. i did NOT expected this album to be SO heavier as i thought haha, It is a shock! Avril was true that " this is the most alternative record". Im pretty happy of the production, instruments. I though it would be more typical and boring, but diff. layers, instruments and everything. Cant wait to listen instrumentals. Knowing Feldman style i really thought all songs will sound teh same, but surprise no.That's cool.
1) Cannonball - is the thing Avril never done before. This electronic sound and different tempo during all song is so cool and im glad she has that experiment! Super fast and tempo i just wasn't ready for it. i LIKE IT! The best song to start an album) Like she is gonna kick some asses!
2) Bois Lie - a good chose for a single and i was listening this song weeks when demo was leaked. The good one pop-punk song, cathy and fun. Also my fave
3) Bite Me - you know a good lead single and cool song. The most light song from the album, cause its a single obvious) Good strong song!
4) Love It When You Hate Me - for me this song was added to tracklist just for radio promo lol. Cathy chorus, but that's all.Boring song and i think MV would be too boring. We will see...
5) Love Sux - i love it! oldschool pop-punk song and i love that keys! Funny and catchy too. One of my fave too. The production is cool and diverse.
6) Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending - Love this song, but she is stretching words too much ahah, idk i would like this song to be less heavier. So i think i like it)
7) Avalanche - reminded me some ballads from AL and then totally 30STM sound. I lke it and EDM Bridge is what im living for. This song has an attitude and i feel some emotions. The vibe is sad and tragic. But avaLUNCH is funny XD
8) Déjà vu - DID U GUYS noticed it too? The transition between Avalanche and this song? Deja Vu is like the continue of Avalanche. IDK it was made with purpose or by a chance. But they sounded same bit. Also Deja Vu is a child of Hot and RNR by the beat and guitar riff. The lyrics are cool. But this is my least fave song after LIWYHM. i think ive heard it from avril 100 times idk why... and is this song about Phillip?
9) F.U.- the total brother of Paramore's MIZ BIZ. And i like this song SO MUCH! i hope we will get a lot of discussions about it later. This is one of my fave songs from the album.
10) All I Wanted - Avril's rap is cool tho i didn't recognized her voice at first. Nice pop punk song, nothing extra here.
11) Dare To Love Me - really not the best ballad, but we dont blame Avril cause she didn't wanted to add this song. Really a B-Side from GL. I missed this sound a bit, not boring and not exiting, just ordinary song. Not comparable to her ,masterpieces ballads ofc. I think if we didn't hear this song we wouldn't lose smth. Avril dared to include this song all i can say(
12) Break Of A Heartache - the song that ends the album. Sponge Bob theme is back! AND I LOVE IT! The cannonball started with "Lets Go" and this song is the final track.
so my LEAST FAVE SONGS ARE ( IN ORDER FROM BEST TO WORST): Deja Vu, KMLTWIE, Dare To Love Me, LIWYHT)
Thanks and would like to see your comments too)

Finally heard the full album! I can now see where everyone's points of view are coming from, the negative and positive reviews. Just after a quick listen my faves are the singles, F.U, Love Sux, Avalanche, DTLM (even though I really expected a lot from it since its the only ballad but thats ok, we have others + HAW to go to so no biggie) and Break of a Heartache. Bite Me was the perfect choice for lead, definately.
Although I absolutely love how Cannonball opens the album with the massive introduction and hurtles you into it I think I might have to give it a few more listens to get a good opinion of it since its kinda doing a lot of things at once lol, but it is a great opening.
I don't particularly like the guys voices with hers in Bois Lie (better in the album context I must say the song is quite fun) and All I Wanted. Flames has been her best colab to me, even Let Me Go worked with Chad's voice. I think Dejavu might be my least favourite and KMLTWIE second least favourite. Not skippable or anything just not at the top of the list and don't blow me away. IMO it's good that it's not longer than it is, because any longer and you might not want to take the rest in and will lose interest. Perfect cut off. And on that not Break of Heartache is the perfect ending song too.
It's a record to blast and have fun to. Not a work of art by any means but its not meant to be. Her voice does still work with this genre, she really goes for it in some parts.
So I really think the next single should be Love Sux, I can see a fun video with her acting out breaking up with different guys representing a few relationships and lying in bed crying etc. afterwards like in the chorus.
Dare to Love Me could be a single as well I think.
They will probably go with the Bois Lie feat I guess anyway.
So there is my opinion on Love Sux after one listen. Will update my thoughts in the Love Sux thread once everyone has heard it. I will give it a solid 8/10 for now.

The album is now 40 minutes out in my country and after the first listen my current order is: My favorites: 1. Bite Me (In my opinion the best choice for the first single) 2. FU (hope that's right that this will be the next single - I hoped the whole song she says fuck you at some point and yeah it came at the end haha - and yes it reminds me of Paramore) 3. Deja Vu (Like it, but they should cut the first 10 seconds) 4. Love Sux 5. Bois Lie (I like MGK and love the feat. but I find MGK feat. Halsey's "forget me too" much stronger) Then: 6. Cannonball (I like the intro and instrumental, but the course doesn't grab me, maybe after listening to it several times) 7. Break Of A Heartache (is a good ending to the album - and yes, short Nivana moment at the beginning) 8. All I Wanted (it's okay, but not one of my favorites) Not so mine: 9. Kiss me Like the World is Ending (Filler for me, maybe you have to hear it more often. Great instrumental but don't like the course) 10. Love it When you hate me (i like blackbear, but the feat is not that strong. - Filler for me) 11. Avalance (don't understand why everyone is hyping this song) 12. Dare to Love me (completely unnecessary, 3 minutes only the sentence "dare to love me") All in all I really like the album and it's her best work in years

I just finished listening to the album for the first time! I quite enjoyed it, but tbh, I'm not in love with it. There certainly are some problems that I have with this record. I think I might get used to some of them in the future, but others, I doubt I will. First of all, I wish Avril's vocals hadn't been edited so much. I don't know if it's autotune / pitch correction or a specific filter or compression, but her vocals just don't sound too natural to my ears. This isn't really a surprise - it's exactly the same with "Bite Me" and LIWYHM. But I still wish the vocal production would've been handled differently, at least for most songs. The second thing that bothers me is the mixing, I think. Or maybe it's the production? I don't know. But a lot of the songs sound like a wall of sound. It's almost like each instrument is fighting to be in the foreground. Add the fact that most of the songs are already aggressive and loud, and I can already see myself ending up with a headache every time I listen to the full album. That's quite a shame. It's a problem I already had with HAW... My last negative point about this album in general is simply its genre/style. I just have sort of a difficult relationship with pop-punk. There are some pop-punk songs that I really enjoy, but these typical super fast pop-punk songs simply aren't my cup of tea most of the time. I just never managed to get into that style. And more than half the album seems to be made up of songs just like that. That doesn't mean those songs are bad, they're just not really my taste. Now, to get to the positives: I think Avril's vocal performance pretty much throughout the record is amazing. There were some quite unexpected vocal deliveries on this album, especially the more aggressive ones. Honestly, I'd never thought I'd ever hear Avril this aggressive again, yet here we are, hehe. I really missed this side of her on the previous three records. I also think most of the songs have some great instrumentation. The drums are so good! And the guitars! Ugh, I'm so glad Avril's back with this kind of sound. The two songs that really stuck out, though, are "Avalanche" and "Déjà Vu". Those two are fantastic and imo by far the strongest on the record. And - not gonna lie - without them, I think I would've been a bit (or maybe even more than a bit) disappointed in the album. I will write about each song in more detail at some later time, but for now I'm just gonna say that "Déjà Vu" really surprised me and made me laugh, while "Avalanche" had me in actual tears just one minute in, thinking "this song is insane!" over and over again, and finally forcing me to take a quick break before continuing with the album. Really, I loved "Déjà Vu", but "Avalanche" is absolutely insane. I have too many words for this song, yet at the same time no words at all. That's how insane it is.

So my first listen is over and Oh my God I love this album so much! My faves so far are Love Sux, Avalanche, Deja Vu, F.U. and Break of a Heartache (which is one hell of a good ending song)
"Dare to Love Me" is a nice little quiet break from the otherwise nonstop badassery that is the Album Love Sux.
The collabs are fun imo, I like "All I Wanted" the most Mark has an incredible voice. "Bois Lie" is fun for what it is.
Canonball is the perfect opening if you ask me, it just hurls you straight into the mood of the Album, there is alot happening in the song but I really like it.
And then we have Bite Me and LIWYHM well I've been listening to those 2 on a loop alot when I was in the mood for the new era so yeah I'm a teeny bit tired of those (keep in mind I pretty much listened to Bite Me every single day since it got released 😂)
So yeah overall I'm more than just happy with Love Sux it's the Punk-Pop / Pop-Rock Album I always wanted from Avril and it feels like it was made for exactly my taste, fast, fun and the perfect Album to fucking rock out to!
I'm so hyped for next year those songs will KICK ALL THE ASS performed Live! I can't wait!

Ok, first listen: Cannonball: WTF??? What a start! Can't say that I love the EDM, but it's so fun! And the chorus is great! This is a banger! 8/10 Bois Lie: I didnt like the demo at all, this version is soooo much better! Dont really like MGK, but the song is fun and I can see why it's becoming a single. It stays in your ear all day... 7/10 Bite Me: Still love this song! Perfect first single! 9/10 Love it when you hate me: Naah, too generic. It's okay but never blew me away, I would say it's my least favourite song off this album. 4/10 Love sux: You all love it, but I dont feel it. Seems to "immature" to me, her voice is too shrill, and feels over-produced. It's too much happening, too forced. But sounds like it could become a single at some point. Maybe it*s a grower, idk. 5/10 Kiss me like the world is ending: I really like it! I like the lyrics and I really like the chorus, I think it's really a cute song and I need an acoustic version asap! Just cute! 8/10 Avalanche: Somehow reminds me of Take Me Away, just the feeling. I actually cried when the chorus started... I was hoping for more songs like this as it reminds me of UMS. This is a wonderful song and I think it will become a fan favourite. 9/10 Deja Vu: Not 10/10 but probably one of her best lyrics off this album. What did Phil do to her...? I think this will be a grower and I like that she sings a bit slower, so that I can actually understand her (everything else on this album is so fast!) 7/10 F.U.: Like her voice a lot in this one! And it's really catchy, I hope this will be single. Classic Avril and great instrumental! 7/10 All I wanted: She didnt write a single lyric they are so different from the album. The verses are a bit fast, the chorus is cute. But I expected more... it's a bit underwhelming. 6/10 Dare to love me: Are those real emotions while singing a ballad...? finally! I really love the voice production, she sounds so vulnerable. I prefer this over polished songs like WYG/Innocence etc. It*s a cute song and I love how it builds up and still fits the album sound. 7/10 Break of a heartache: I dont understand her, I dont know if it's the production or the tempo. But very powerful and fun! I just dont feel it... 6/10 Overall: I hoped for a bit more UMS/emo/angsty but this is so fresh and she went all in! I doubt we will hear most of these songs live as some of them might be too fast for her live, but you can hear how much fun she had recording them. The instrumentals are great! awesome! The lyrics could be better, but the melodies (and bridges!) make up for it mostly. I'm so pleased

I took out the collabs, and I enjoy the album much more. I'm still not sold on KMLTWIE nor Deja Vu, but at least everything feels less repetitive. Weird, cause I love most of Avril's previous collabs.

anyone else think when she sings “I try to tell you about it” in the chorus of F.U. she sounds like her UMS voice??? XD

Cannonball 5/10 - I see a lot of people have hype over this song, but for me it's just boring Bois Lie 7/10 - I heard it once, when demo leaked and I didn't like it, I was hoping it's the worst song of the album, but... it just grew in me! lalalal is very catchy Bite Me 7/10
Love it when you hate me 7/10 Love Sux 10/10 - One of the best songs of this album, it's usper energetic and very catchy, I love it
Kiss me like the world is ending 8/10 - I'm not the biggest fan of this song, but it feels like Avril sings it with heart, literally like if Mod Sun would be staying in front of her and these words were directed to him. Avalanche 100/10 - This is definitely the best song of this album, 1 of 2 with piano? I hope Avril will perform it live
Deja vu 6/10 - It's boring to me, something I wouldn't listen on repeat. But I have to say, that bridge is love 10/10 F.U. 8/10 - Pretty catchy, single potential. All I wanted - 4/10? - I think I like it the least, I feel like it was forcely added to album as a filler.
Dare to Love me 10/10 - I love Avril ballads and this one doesn't disappoint me.
Break of a Heartache - 4/10, same as AIW, just a filler, boring one.
summarizing, it has some good songs, some are awesome, but this album isn't even top5 for me.

Sharing my first listen it with Bandaids!
1. Cannonball (6/10) - Just the BEST INTRO from a Avril album off all time! "ARE YOU READY??". An I Can Do Better spirit with Bad Girl atitute! 2. Bois Lie (8/10) - Travis drums intro is good, Avril`s "Hey" and "La la lallala LIE" is very catchy!!! MGK is good! But the song is so repetitive as LIWYHM (potential single?). 3. Bite Me (10/10) - Class A orignal pop-punk song! Thanks Avril and Travis! Best choice to first single! 4. Love It When You Hate Me (7/10) - meh, I dont like blackbear HERE, superporduction on Avril voice and chorus very repetitive as BL, but GOD I love the rithym and energy of Avril. 5. Love Sux (10/10) - GUYS, THIS IS THE 2 BEST SONG of this album, I LOVE THE MASTERPIECE of John Feldmann PRODUCTION HERE, energetic, caothic and catchy Avril!!! "NA NA NA NA NOT ANOTHER BREAK UP!!" YOU GOT IT MY HEART AVRIL! The album is Love SUX. Backing vocals form Mod Sun is a bonus. 6. Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending (8/10) - Avril singing like disney channel vibes, but with your heart, its direcioned to Mod Sun? haha. Avril voice is AMAZING. 7. Avalanche (10/10) - STOP IMMEDIATELY, this is the best song of this album. JF is here totally, putting a MIX of old-new Avril on their best form! Imagine when she sing LIVE with real guittar and drums! OH GOD! The 3:39 time is perfect to develop the evolution of the song, good bridges, lyrics and vocals. Avril, work WELL done here! 8. Deja Vu (7/10) - It's a normal song of Avril comfort zone, yes a filler song, but the bridge and the end is pure amazing!! 9. F.U. (8/10) - Catchy pop-punk with 2000 vibes (single?), Travis Barker is here on drums with energy and push Avril to the punk atitute of this song. Smiles like the ICDB, but Runaway attitue. 10. All I Wanted - (5/10) - Another tipic Avril filler, Mark Hoppus is a ICON and have a style thats I like, both singing fast, the song is a dialog, the best part is a verse where they sing together: "Revolution!!". 11. Dare To Love Me (10/10) - A classic Avril ballad thats the wolrd loves and expect hear from she. This is one! Beautiful pure voice of Avril singing the chorus word "If you dare to love me" and "LOVE MEEEEE", but HERE is the new adult Avril with old haha "Don't say another damn word if you don't believe it". Thanks JF to maintain in album <3 12. Break of a Heartache (4/10) - A good energetic filler for the end.
I love this album theme and cohesion. Thanks Avril, is what I need to put on my pop-punk playlist =) Just happynesss!
