Starting off in general. I think it's the best upbeat album and songs since The Best Damn Thing and from any other albums. The first impression pops in my head can be summarized in words that are "Bittersweet", "Tongue Twister", "Rage", "Pain", "Excitement", "Powerful". So it absolutely is a distance from what Avril described as "light-hearted", "fun". Also, I can hear the overall sound from more pop to alternative driven and the best or perfect mixture, seems like "Bite Me" rule the play. After all, the album is not stright up to her words in my opinion. Here is my ranking at first instinct, best out of the best honestly.
Duet: Bois Lie Love It When You Hate Me All I Wanted
Favorite tracks from the most to least: Avalanche Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending Bite Me F.U. Love Sux
Potential universal single: Bois Lie Love Sux Avalanche
Potential single for personal story: Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending Deja Vu
Although it's a pop punk and alternative record, I still look for something cutting through the deep like the last album before the release, and as you can see I found the topics and they are done beautifully and the really deep emotion that Head Above Water offers were able to be conveyed through the songs too. I'm so happy that they didn't skip the introspective effect even in the genre that is not considered as professional or taken seriously but they turn it into it that way.

I've finally had time to listen to it this morning - and I enjoyed it. It's undoubtedly TBDT's direct spiritual successor, and it luckily spares us of generic fillers on the level of Sippin' on Sunshine. It's a solid pop-punk-rock album, it would've been massively popular 15 years ago for sure, but with that said, it also has some distinct issues of pop-punk-rock - one major one is the fact that lining up ten short songs with similar quick tempo and aggression gets a bit too hard on the ears, attention, and it just isn't something for most people to listen to in a row. I also would've wished Avril's voice would be less autotuned and that we'd hear more of her natural vocal variation within songs. Anyway, back to positives - I really love hearing guitars and drums so much, and I love how lively she is singing it. All I Wanted with Hoppus isn't quite what I hoped for, but it's still a song I really really like because two of my beloved artists are in it at the same time, and it's also a nice comeback for Mark after he thankfully survived cancer treatment. Like others previously said, the one song that surprised me lyrically completely is Avalanche; I quietly strongly hoped we'd get some kind of a more profound, vulnerable piece, and the latter is exactly that, a deeper, more existential song, one that can be an anthem to you when you're struggling, a song that can accompany you at your most vulnerable times. The Woah woah woah's are a bit generic and sound a bit dated, but otherwise Avalanche is already my current favourite from the album. Anyway, these are just first impressions for now, back to listening .

So far I love it! Love Sux (the song) reminds me so much of He Wasn’t, like an older sister to it! And love Avalanche, would be even better if the first verse was a touch deeper vocal wise.

There are so many good moments in this album. There’s a lot to unpack. I actually love a lot of the lyrics across the record.

I am not going to say much about this album yet because I have only been listening it for a few days, and more seriously today.
I have mixed feelings about this album. My old me would be literally screaming with this because this is exactly the kind of music I used to listen to all the time and loved. And I still do (listening to many other things) and love. This means I like it but I need more time for it to grow in me.
Also (what I am going to say can be dumb)... Avril and her first albums have been so important for me in the past and I have listened so much that I am not sure if this will get a place in my heart. Basically, this has to be with the fact she has released so many before (which is amazing and I can't believe we are here) but her first ones have a really important place in me and I am not sure even music is that important to me anymore.
It is a great album. It has amazing songs I am already listening to over and over again. And what I really love is how cohesive it is. We had not seen something like that for really long. It feels the same piece and not many pieces are glued together without sense. I really missed this.
Also, I understand many of you can be a bit "disappointed" because you discovered Avril in different eras with a different sound, but honestly, this album is what Avril always was. Even being mainstream she got where she is thanks to the pop-punk-rock scene and also that 2000 wave. I am happy to see she is back there (having in mind my favorite album of her is UMS that sounds way more rock and grungy). It is true that is so so heavy that can be heard to listen for some of you, I totally understand this.
If you ask me, this album is probably what TBDT should have been. She received so much hate back then which is difficult to understand with today's eyes. But I feel this album back then would have been amazing for her career... at the same time, Love Sux sounds really 2022 and not outdated at all. Well done Miss Lavigne.

My cd arrived today and is missing the signed art card. I am gutted. It shows clearly on the invoice I received today in the parcel and on the original confirmation email I received. Did this happen with anyone else? I have emailed them but I am really doubting I will ever get it now. I’m in the U.K. did this happen to anyone else? I have contacted them but I’m not keeping my hope high.
