Honest to god, I think if Avril announced a big Eras tour similar to Taylor, and publized it, and promoted alot, i think she would get tickets sold. get older generations and newer generations interested. perform the hits,d eep cuts, and surprise songs. You're saying that if Avril wasn't Avril she'd be maybe more like some of her other contemporaries who still draw in massive crowds haha. Lets not forget that she and Taylor aren't that far apart in terms of when their music careers started - Taylor is 5 years younger, her debut album roughly 4 years, so they're kind of from the same era? Imagine Avril breaking music records one after another in 2019 like Taylor is doing now

I mean hell Lover was kind of like Taylor's last hurrah thinking it would be the last they could tolerate her. Then her popularity got rejuvenated. and now here we are. I feel like if Av did something big like that, she would be back up in popularity.

Avril has already performed one time at a stadium in Brazil in 2005, i think that show still holds the record for her biggest solo concert ever, there were like 50k people. I think she could have a chance in filling stadiums in South America and maybe in Japan.
But what would be the point in performing at a stadium anyways, her shows are short (15 songs) and lack production.
I think perforrming at festivals is the best for her at this point, because even on her own tours she doesnt even perform new songs, only singles.

Yeah but like.. no she shoudl do something like Mod does. He performs in smaller arenas like reallysmall. Avril should od something like that and be super intimate with fans

I'm not a fan of festivals either, huge crowds are a big no for me, and I don't like being outside in the summer either ('cause bugs and heat - yikes). Still, as long as she keeps going on her own tour, playing venues as headliner, I think it's good she's doing some festivals. It gives her more exposure; people who wouldn't buy a ticket to one of her own shows might still end up seeing her at a festival, enjoy it, and maybe end up streaming/buying her music.
Also, there are usually a lot of bands/artists performing at festivals that are fantastic, really energetic performers. Every time Avril performs at a festival, I hope she sticks around to see some of those bands/artists and maybe draw some inspiration from it to up her own performances. I'm just desperate for her performances to get better, energy-wise. Those of the past few eras have often been hard to watch tbh, and it's quite saddening; she used to be so much better.

There's always one or two performances in which she does better. Avril can be easily charismatic if she wants to, she just chooses not to do it.

We’ve had a few covers / interpolations of Sk8er Boi but this has got to be the most random:

People keep saying this but how many concerts has she been to (Britney, SZA, Taylor, Usher), and her shows remain the same? Every time she performed with Mod, who’s a super energetic and passionate performer, her energy never matched his. Avril’s never really been a super energetic performer, even in her golden years. I think watching other acts might hopefully inspire her to up her game concerning the setlist and staging elements but sadly probably not her actual performance quality.

Yeah, I unfortunately completely agree, but I'm not willing to completely give up hope yet that she might bring back at least a bit more passion. Like, at least try and improve her ability to remember lyrics, play instruments more properly, little things like that.

Taylors level of popularity is a once in a generation thing and no matter where Avrils career had gone there was so way she’d ever come close to it.

I remember when I was in my teens (2004ish) Avril Lavigne was extremely popular and her name was all over the place. At which point exactly did it start to diminish? She was huge at one point. I see comments on IG and Twitter a lot, talking about how her attitude sucks. Perhaps that’s why? I think her attitude was shitty in the beginning but after TBDT she seemed a lot more friendly.
Just curious as to what exact point her popularity diminished, it seemed very fast instead of slowly fading over time.
I think it was before Lyme.
Maybe the GL era?

Yeah between TBDT era finishing and GL coming out she lost her relevancy. I think it’s a mix of things. The long wait for music between TBDT and GL. Poor connection with fans as things moved into social media. The quality of music diminishing. TBDT was an odd one - it’s was hugely successful with the general public because of GF, but I think it also alienated a big chunk of her fanbase because her whole image was such a huge turn from what we all knew. She was essentially a bit of a novelty when she came out - the teenager all the other teenagers wanted to be making music they related to. As she got older she lost that - I guess partly because that’s just what happens with a lot of artists who get so huge at a young age, partly because she’s not very good at connecting with her fans and partly because she does unfortunately seem to be stuck in the mindset of a teenager in a lot of ways, and her fans grew up and grew out of it.

Honestly just happens with everyone that’s not named Taylor Swift. Happened with Katy Perry from Prism to Witness. Gonna happen with Olivia one day
