[ALBUM] AL8 Speculation Thread

Yeah I remember that. Kinda shocked he even went to Japan with her but maybe they were happy for the holidays. It honk November-December they were ok and then after that shit hit the fan so like this time last year

I don’t really get the impression she started writing the album then scrapped a bunch of stuff. If she releases next year then that’s an unusually quick turnaround for Avril, we usually wait way longer between albums. She must have an album mostly written and some idea of a planned release date because of the tour dates next year. That’s very quick by her standards - doesn’t make me think she’s been back and forth on genres or collaborators or anything like that.

We had a year turnaround for Love Sux, even though it was recorded in three months.

We saw her working on AL8 as late as June if I remember correctly. So yeah, I agree it’s still under her standards, and if we get the album by next year it would be something expected.

Let’s also remember there’s a documentary in the works, and I’m certain she wants to start off the new era with the release of the movie. With the strike, things have gotten delayed most likely , so that’s a possible scenario.

I think we’ll forever wonder what Travis meant when he randomly commented “RAP STAR” on one of her posts lol An inside joke maybe? I can envision Avril maybe incorporating rap into her music, I mean aside from He Who Shall Not Be Named entering her life, she was hanging out with rappers or rappers-turned-rockers like Mod, MGK, and Blackbear. I wouldn’t be surprised if the influence rubbed off onto her, like she might have been doing rap-rock kind of stuff like Nobody’s Fool, Bitchin Summer bridge, etc.

There's no way she was doing rap music. NF, BS, IHTT aside she's never been influenced by that style of music. It's just fan speculation.

I remember that before Goodbye Lullaby was released, Avril was working with Alex da Kid and he mentioned there would be some hip-hop influenced songs on GL as well, but by December 2010 it was announced those songs weren’t going to be on the album. However Avril did mention that she would likely release those songs on another project. They weren’t on AL/self-titled though, so I assume they just got scrapped. I do wonder what those songs were like, imagine if GL had some hip-hop influences on it.

Anyways I don’t see her ever doing a full on rap/hip-hop album, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were going to be some influences and maybe a collab with a rapper (like the Girlfriend remix with Lil Mama or Dumb Blonde with Nicki Minaj) on it, maybe on a remix version of a single.

I think the most Hip Hop we could expect from Avril would be something like the Bangerz album from Miley Cyrus. It's still very pop but has some obvious Hip Hop influences. However I do hope Avril left that direction because I was afraid she would have some cringing features from that "rap" circle of friends from Mod... but I guess that wont happen anymore.

I feel like the time is ready for some sad power ballads or depressing mid tempo songs with her signature anger! I want an angry loud version of Folklore from Avril lol.
