Indeed, everything is so quiet that it seems that new music will not come soon, unless it falls on us unexpectedly. Now I don't know what to expect for AL8, darker mid-tempo ballads, country rock, Love Sux vol2? All I hope for now is UMS20th! I hope we get confirmation soon and can discuss this in a new thread. I can imagine that there will be Take It, Daydream; maybe Think About It, Fall Into The Sky and those songs that Evan found on the CD.

Fake as Hell is not bad, just the same identical song heard over and over again. Forgettable. I don't really care what kind of strategy she decides to follow for this album, what really matters to me is the production and the songwriting. She can promote it the best she can and it can reach #1 Billboard but if all the songs will sound like "Be my rockstar, I'll be your rockstar, I love you, I hate you".. it won't resonate with me much and in the long run it won't be a favourite of mine. At the moment, tbh, I'm sure it will be very very similar to Love Sux and it's the first time in 20 years I don't feel the hype for a new record of hers, it could come out in some months or next year, I can live peacefully atm. Wow, that sounds like me, haha! Honestly, this might be a bit unpopular, but I feel like all of her albums since "Goodbye Lullaby" are either strong just in lyrics or just in production. Imho "Goodbye Lullaby" is lyrically perfect, but the production could have been better. "Avril Lavigne" has good production, but the lyrics are not the best for my taste with a few exceptions. "Head Above Water" to me: good lyrics, but the production feels rushed, while "Love Sux" is, to me, her best-produced album among these four. The lyrics are not the worst but far from her peak. All my hope is for her to deliver excellent production, amazing lyrics, and good instrumentals for her next album. I don't care that much about the genre she'll embrace. She can take her time as long as it is a good record!

For me “Love Sux” was an exciting project as “Head above water” was disappointing in sound after waiting so many years for a new album.
But even though I love “Love sux” I just don’t think another album very similar in that style would work again. I think the new album will probably be a bit of a mix of sounds, hopefully something similar to “Let Go”.

I think the ship has sailed for AL8 to have a similar sound as Love Sux. The album turns two next month, she hasn’t toured for it in almost a year… I think if anybody were into Bite Me, they’ve long moved on. I think it’s best she continues to push her sound for AL8. If anything has been proven since covid four years ago, the pop-punk revival really didn’t work out. It was a hit for Good 4 U, but not much else. MGK flopped, Paramore moved away from the sound, and nobody else is really doing it. She had her chance to team up with Taylor, Olivia, Billie, etc on Love Sux, but she chose the absolute worst collabs imaginable. Time to reinvent, especially with her stylist

I can see a Billie Avril collab on one of the albuumb whethe rits Avril's or Billie's .Ime xcited for what 2024 has in store for music

I don’t think she chose bad collabs on LS really. Mark Hoppus is always a great collab, I’d take him over Olivia or Billie any day. MGK not my favourite but fine for what it is (and Bois Lie is a great song).
Taylor wouldn’t collab with Avril lol. Especially not on LS - where would she have fit?!

Avril also follows Chiefkz on Instagram. Not sure who he is but seems to be quite involved with country music, possibly a manger and founder of a record label?
She also follows Nate Smith which is another country artist..

Avril has never done two similar sounding albums in a row so I think the ship has sailed for another pop punk album, and honestly? We don’t need it. Why make 2 similar albums in a row? Not to mention she possibly associates that genre and album/era with Mod now and maybe wants to do something completely different this time around. Based on who she worked with for this album I think we can assume it’ll still be in the general pop/rock/alternative realm, but I’m not expecting LS 2.0.

This is true and I wish it, but she said herself it's "a mix of LS and previous records" and the fact that she has been working a lot with Feldman who said himself "I can't keep the concentration to work on a song for more than 3 minutes" really makes me believe it's gonna be, at least half of it, LS 2.0.

She did say that. A year ago. And then February happened

She kept working with Feldman throughout the year though, so he's definitely going to be the producer of most of the tracks on the album, along with Travis and maybe a couple more producers. With regards to the country thing, she'll definitely not go country, at least not for this record. We could get a country ballad maybe or two, but I don't really think it will be for this upcoming record.

I heard rumors she might be on Debut TV which id be down (Yes im clowning im still hoping for one of the re recordings) but yeah i still feel like AL8 is gonna be like AL5 a big mix of sounds

Yeah she has changed what she’s said about this album so many times, first she said it would be a mix of LS and older sounds, then she said she was trying new stuff. I wouldn’t hold her to anything she said even 6 months ago let alone a year or more ago. I’m sure the sound has changed at least a couple times as she’s worked on it, considering she started on it in late 2022. That happens. The sound of an album usually evolves as you go through the writing process. I doubt it’s the same record she had from late 2022.

Most likely Taylor is recruiting traditional country artists for that album and probably people she grew up listening to. In what context would Avril of all people make sense for one of the most iconic country albums of all time? No, it’s just fans wanting to be delulu. The album that would have made most sense to have her on is Speak Now due to the pop/rock influence, and that ship sailed. She’s not appearing on any Taylor’s Version.

Honestly I think the only collab on debut will be Tim McGraw. Avril would make absolutely no sense - I’d be fairly confident in saying an Avril/Taylor collab will never happen lol
Agree re LS 2.0. That ship has sailed and I don’t want it anyway. I honestly couldn’t call the genre for the next album at the moment, she’s really not given us anything (which I’m not mad about - I’d love a surprise drop)
