Yes. Soon. I hadn't forgotten. Monday looks good. I'm not usually this busy. Weird stuff. Nothing bad. Just out of the ordinary. Thanks. I understand. It happens to us all. I asked you about it because my laptop is really slowing down now and it's worrying me. We got lucky. I was going to start you off with running Malwarebytes and CCleaner. I was looking for videos, to explain how to use them. I took a chance and reviewed this video. Lo and behold, it explains both and all the other steps I would have recommended. If I had the time to make a video, specifically to help you, my video would have been almost exactly the same. Two things... Create a restore point first. Make sure you know all the usernames and passwords, for all your online accounts. If CCleaner clears all your cookies, you will have to reenter them the next time you visit those sites. EDIT: I no longer recommend this video, and Malwarebytes, is no longer free!!!

But I'll go through this video. Thanks for all your help, UB.

I'm using the CC Cleaner right now. I think this is really going to help me, thanks, UB.

The CC Cleaner worked well, but I had to pay for the license. I wasn't expecting that. But I bought it so we'll see if it helps.

So far it's working really well. I have over 10 GB's freed up and doing a disk scan and cleanup, too. I also shut off start up programs slowing down my system.

I also installed the Driver Updater. It also cost money, but it updated 28 drivers, and that includes drivers for sound, keyboards, mouse and some other things that needed updating. I've freed up a fair bit of space on my C: drive, too. And cleaned up a ton of files and removed registry errors. Very helpful, thank you, UB. I'm doing a full Malwarebytes scan including rootkits right now. I can't find the Ez Soft program online. I also cleaned out my browser and deleted another browser I'm no longer using.

You would be wise to do everything recommended, in the video.

I paused the deep scam and am back at it. It's taking a long time. Also, how do I find EZ Soft, UB? I did a search but it didn't come up. I have done everything with the CC Cleaner and it worked amazingly well. But you have to buy the Pro Version to do everything else. This is all adding up to a fair bit of money for me. I also think downloading the drivers will help. I bought a 1 time download with CC Cleaner, but they have a permanent software I might buy next time. Thanks again so much for all your help. The Malwarebytes is a 2 week trial, btw, then you have to buy it.

The Malwarebytes is a 2 week trial, btw, then you have to buy it. It's actually called Emisoft Emergency Kit. Here's the link www.emsisoft.com/en/home/emergencykit/ There is a totally free version of Malwarebytes. But, don't worry about that. The video will guide you through uninstalling it anyway. I've never paid for Malwarebytes or CCleaner. I'll help you find the free versions, if you run into trouble, in the future. I don't recommend the payed version of CCleaner. It's just another program running in the background, using resources. You're trying to avoid that. That's why the video walks you through removing them, after you are done using them. You can always download them again later. I would be surprised if you need to update your drivers. Your computer is quite new. HP coordinates well with Microsoft. You should get any needed driver updates, through normal Windows updates. If you want to check, do it at the hp support site. NEVER get drivers from any other site. Also, never allow any other software, to update drivers for you. Just search "hp support". I had a hard time identifying your computer there. They might want you to download a small app, to help with that. That would be okay.

Thanks for the link, btw. If you have links to free versions of Malwarebytes and CC Cleaner I will bookmark the sites and download them later when I need them. I have already updated my drivers, so I hope that doesn't cause issues. I find trying to find drivers and things on HP complicated and time consuming. I can't figure out where everything is on their site. Their tech help cost a fortune and requires a monthly subscription, and you can't call them or they will hang up on you unless you're a "Paid Friend". When you can send me the links I'll save them and use the free versions. I bought subscriptions for just 1 month. Also, should I be worried about the drivers I downloaded? Ok, I ran the Malwarebytes deep scan and it found some things and quarantined them. I downloaded and ran the Emisoft software and it found nothing at all.

I don't remember it being mentioned in the video. In the future, don't install any software, without first doing a search, for a review. There's not a chance in hell that you needed 28 driver updates. It's at best, vaporware, and does absolute nothing. It's also possible that it's malware. Did you install it before or after you ran Malwarebytes? If before, Malwarebytes would likely identify it as a PUP. (Possibly Unwanted Program), if it's a problem. I've found that the Microsoft Security built into Windows 10 is adequate, for most people. So, I would think that your computer is as fast as it was when it was new. Is it?

Yes, it was connected to CC Cleaner. It's part of the suite that comes with CC Cleaner when you buy it. It has a section to update drivers, but you go to a link and download and buy the software and it's very similar to CC Cleaner. The same people selling it as CC. And the same price, too. I wish I'd known this before I downloaded all this stuff. I was following directions from the video like you told me to, and I trusted it would all work and be ok. It never occurred to me to review software that CC was basically selling because that was in the video and recommended. I'm kind of unhappy that I spent nearly 40 dollars for nothing. It's confusing and I was following the instructions I was given and didn't know anything else. I ran Malwarebytes and it did bring up a lot of PUP to remove. I'll remove the Driver Updater. I have removed it and CC Cleaner now and I'd appreciate the free version links when you have time. I didn't know those programs were free until you told me afterwards. My laptop is running faster, thanks so much. I have more free space, it's cleaner and running better. I had a lot of stuff junking up my laptop and hardrive and now it's better. I aloso deleted 2 browsers I wasn't using and likely taking up too much space. The Pro Tools takes up more space than anything on my hardrive, but I'm not removing that, lol.

If you need them again, I will test the behavior, of the current version, at that time. 28 driver updates is total fraud. Totally destroys my confidence in that company. I'm sorry I recommended them, and I'm sorry they ripped you off. At least your computer is faster. Don't feel too bad, if you had taken your computer to a repair shop, they would probably have ripped you off worse. The Geek Squad, affiliated with Best Buys, sold an acquaintance a $100 HDMI cable. All he hired them to do was connect his new tv, to his cable box and sound system. There was nothing wrong with the HDMI cable he had. I told him he deserved that, because he didn't call me. I'm a capitalist. I believe in free enterprise. I'm not someone that thinks profit is a dirty word. What the hell happened to ethics. It's shameful.

I just got confused and fooled by the software makers. I had no idea you could get CC Cleaner and Malwarebytes for free. Even after I paid for CC Cleaner some of the options required an extra Pro version to work. The Easysoft program worked well, and they and Malwarebytes seemed to remove problem installations, and might include the drivers because I saw a long list of PUP's quarantined, I think they're called. I am not familiar with all this sort of thing so I was just following instructions. I do appreciate your help.

I found this... www.howtogeek.com/361112/heres-what-you-should-use-instead-of-ccleaner/There's even a link to a site where you can get an older version of CCleaner Free. But, it doesn't work. 😂 I found another site that has older versions. I am currently testing one. I will then delete it. There are potential downsides. I'm not going to discuss this further now. If there is ever a reason to discuss this again, I will have to download it again, and test it again. So, why bother explaining it now. But, the article is worth a read.
