I wanted to ask if someone had some of this DVD's to make an .iso image copy and release I would be more interested in this first one This one is an audio CD woahhhh! Haven't seen these for over 10 years, this is craaazy. Back when the Backbone fanclub was still a thing..I don't know what they are about but these two covers were around on the internets back in the days. Can't believe i'm seeing this. Crazy! Haha I was thinking the same thing! I remember the days when these would be the two first things to pop up on Amazon when you searched for her, before I'm With You had even come out.

I attended a talk given by Christy and she specifically remembered the word to be "crappy" but I do believe that there's an article from back in the day (Rolling Stone?) where she says "stupid", so who knows! Those songs are important for avril not just because of the success that they eventually achieved, but also because she would have 100% been dropped had they not come into fruition. It seems like that fact is the only thing that most everyone who was involved in her debut project can agree on. Her gratitude for them has grown through the years; she was criticised quite extensively by (allegedly being misquoted) saying that she didn't enjoy playing her old hits, other than IWY and Tomorrow during the UMS era. Now it's hard to get her to want to play anything other than those songs!

Yeah, that was more the case. Before the matrix somewhat went back on their allegations, they claimed that her involvement in Complicated was limited to changing "crappy clothes" to "preppy" and a couple other menial things.

I'm not commenting on avril's contribution- but it's 10000% possible to be given a writing credit in return for a favour/money. I know this first hand as well as by many other artists doing it. someone above mentioned britney, who funnily enough is one of the only big artists who doesn't do this kind of thing, Beyoncé is famed for doing it, and it's obvious that she does; check out the BC Jean version of If I Were a Boy, which was released before Beyoncé ever recorded it... And then Beyoncé records and releases it and she has a main writing credit on it, despite the lyrics and majority of the melody being identical. There's a very thin line that decides how much someone needs to contribute in order to be listed as a writer on a song. Sometimes, if a main writer is generous, a small melodic change can merit a credit, since the copyright for a song lies in the melody and lyrics. ANYWAY, Google it! It's interesting to learn about these things

Be careful! The way I read it was that she would "probably in a month or two" TELL us about it.

Awww I remember watching the making of TBDT when I was younger; avril with booze in one hand and a cigarette in the other, dancing around crazy excited to her new music. It was so palpable and thrilling.

Assuming this was in response to my post, I'm completely familiar with how crowdfunders work - I just think it's ridiculous for a multi millionaire who is more than capable of funding her own album to do one. I don't see why fans should fund something she can pay for herself ten times over and receive an album they may or may not like in return when she could just pay for it herself if she really wants to do it and the fans can decide afterwards if they want the album. Like I said, no problem with small artists doing this, strange for a mulitmillionaire. She can do Skype chats etc for fans if she wants to anyway, it doesn't have to just be for fans with a spare 100 dollars It wasn't in response to you, it was Niccolo who said it would be like giving a "handout" when it isn't. But anyway, there is an entire list of artists who have used these kinds of sites and you would be surprised at some of the people who have used it, for example Steel Panther, Slash, and Plain White Ts. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PledgeMusic#Notable_Artists_Who_Have_Launched_Campaigns_on_PledgeMusic Fans do not have to donate $100, a minimum package could be $10 or less. All I know is that fans keep complaining that she always gets stuck doing what the label wants, why doesn't she go independent, why doesn't she ever do anything for the fans? No matter what solution she comes up with, fact is the fans will find something to bitch about. I don't see anything wrong with the prospect of her doing a campaign like this. Fans might have the opportunity to get some really cool stuff for a change, instead of some lame "acoustic" bonus song or a giant wall sticker. Yes, Avril technically has the money to fund it all herself but that isn't the point. It gives fans an opportunity to feel like they are involved and possibly receive some nice stuff. If somebody doesn't want to donate to it, then they don't have to. Ok but asking for money for something before it has been created is a lot to ask from someone whose use of the word "soon" and ability to cease all communication are too frequent. I've partaken in four of these campaigns and it's based on trust and guaranty that as "investors", the product will be delivered on time to us. I was doubting her ability to follow through. That's it. but thank you for clarifying it for other people who didn't understand.

Fan funded projects are a valid gauge for public dis/interest, though, which is something that she could benefit from. There would be some inevitable backlash though, it would be one of the first times that an artist of avrils (albeit somewhat dated) success would be asking for money, which would confuse and/or anger some people.
My issue isn't even with that though. I know she's sick now, and I am genuinely haunted by how horrible Lyme disease sounds; but I still feel like avril owes us something a bit more as fans. Her track record for the past two campaigns has been rather awful, and her communication, performance, intention and output has been questionable most of the time. I feel the relationship needs some rehabilitating before a handout is asked of us. This is just how I feel though.

She's never played guitar live for Slipped Away and I would add KOHD and Pumped Up Kicks to the appropriate sections, but other than that, that list is all inclusive!

Any major artist would need to copyright the material that they post online through any medium because if not anyone could claim ownership of it. Her copyright will link to her publishing which will inevitably link to whichever label she's signed to. Let's face it too- in the 13~ years that avril's been around, she's not even thrown as much as an exclusive free remix as a download anywhere. Let us not hold our breaths.
Also- unreleased material is usually unreleased for a reason! I always find it funny when unreleased songs leak and then fans are outraged by their lack of quality, when they were never intended to be heard at all! (See: Think About It)

I feel like it's time for us to come to terms with the fact that she might not ever reach the level of success that she once saw when she was younger. It's a sad, but not necessarily a bad realisation. The genre of music that she creates is simply just not radio-friendly at the moment and she should remain creating music that she feels confident in producing. This is not a testament to her talent or capabilities, but more so to the ever changing popularity of different genres of music. Theatre tours, small venues and limited worldwide visits may be in the cards for the immediate future, but we should be happy for all the success that she's experienced thus far, and for the output that she's willing to to release hereforth!

An indication of how far you've come/gone. She's basically saying that she's come a long way
