The second Sessions set was never definitely explained, but we all assumed at the time that they wanted one where she sounded a bit healthier (there were a few rasps and coughs in the original). The first sessions was the first time she ever performed any of those songs, it was recorded just before the Mall Tour, so she hadn't been performing them regularly, so maybe they wanted a more confident sounding set as well. Who knows!

It technically is a studio version, because a few vocal and instrumental changes were made before that version was released. If you listen to them side by side you can hear them. The base of it is still the Roxy MSN show, but it's not the exact same. Much more polished.

Re Innocence; it's weird that she did avoid the "makes you wanna cryyy" note coming out of the bridge every time, cause she would almost always hit the exact same high note that would need to be used a couple lines later, in the "please don't go away" adlib (the "please" and "cry" share the same note).

Ok, but how do YOU know she auto tuned the AOL in post production? That's a pretty serious accusation to make. Because you can hear glitched vocal slides, clipped notes and pitch placement that is unnatural to avril's voice. I don't want to comb through and post all the moments in the performance where there is evidence because that's just revelling in and focusing on negativity, but it's technically factual.

A lot of artists rerecord vocals for their DVDs. Though they were live at the time, it's more appealing to have a complete sparkly polished package. Complicated at Budokan and most of the TBDTour DVD are prime examples. During TBDT campaign onwards, she started using post-production auto-tuning as well for televised events and online performances. The CBC show, AOL sessions and GL promo in Australia all suffered from this, IMO. Interesting. How do you know this stuff? I studied vocal production/engineering at school, I work in the music industry and I've been an avril fan since before Complicated was officially released, so I know her voice too well haha.

It was definitely live at the time- you can hear they left the original vocals for the last "no no no". It was probably just not a great vocal performance, so they decided to redo it.

One song which never translated well live for me was Freak Out. Something about it always sounded bare. In the debut days, I always loved how they rocked up Mobile, Anything but Ordinary and Complicated. I used to love the way she sang Losing Grip live, holding on to the notes in the chorus"WHYYYY should I CAAAAAAaaaare" and the way she dropped to a lower note in "LIISSTEEEEeeen" (MTV Pyjama Jam is a good example of this). And the end of Tomorrow with the falsetto "da da da la da da dada" was beautiful, too.

Just FYI- the sayonara Tokyo shirt was part of an Urban Outfitters collection from back in the day, not to do with that song, unfortunately! Avril had most of them, Ciao Roma, Bonjour Paris, Cheers Dublin etc

Yada yada. Nope. christina aguilera. The Brits. Competely unprovoked. She's human, she talks too much sometimes. all that aside, this was a career retrospective for these radio hosts; they answered with as much honesty and class as they possibly could! They're interviewers themselves so they know how frustrating a "no comment" answer would be, so instead they used a personal journey and a career improvement as an example. Whatever. Agree to disagree then. Also, the Xtina diss was not unprovoked. Christina acted really snotty towards Avril, like she was a nobody. If it's ok for these radio hosts to say what they think about Avril when asked, then why was it not ok for Avril to talk about Xtina when she was asked? Your retort holds no weight, and you'll see why if you brush up your memory and revisit the video of avril talking about Christina. Enjoy!!

Avril isn't innocent when it comes to celebrity bashing; I'm pretty sure she's voiced her opinion very negatively in the past about Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Christina Aguilera etc. These radio guys never slated Avril, they were merely giving an honest answer. Also for these radio guys, there job is to interview celebs, so it probably makes there job really hard when you get a difficult person to interview. They probably mentioned Avril because it impacted there memory so much that they still remember it as being the most difficult interview they've probably ever had. “She’s great now because she was just a kid back then.” They gave an honest answer and then praised Avril. Nothing classless about that. Avril used to diss celebrities back when she first started but she quickly realized how stupid and mean that was to do. Since then whenever she's asked what she thinks about a certain celeb, she tries to find something nice to say about them, even with controversial celebs. She was asked what she thought about Amanda Bynes during the years when she was doing crazy things, and while Avril wouldn't have been wrong or cruel in saying "She's crazy and needs help," it wouldn't have been nice or professional. She said instead that she met her once in the bathroom at an event and that from that one experience, she said she was nice and it was a positive experience. Just because you can say something about someone and you wouldn't be incorrect or overly mean in saying it, doesn't mean you always should. A classy person refrains from publicly speaking negatively about other people. Half the time celebs are only asked these kinds of questions to stir up shit and sling mud and Avril knows better than to take the bait. Yada yada. Nope. christina aguilera. The Brits. Competely unprovoked. She's human, she talks too much sometimes. all that aside, this was a career retrospective for these radio hosts; they answered with as much honesty and class as they possibly could! I always wonder re her guitar- Do you think that there's a DISCUSSION about it? Does she KNOW? Is it awkward?

I kind of think that this is all for publicity though. I remember the lead up to GL, all the articles, interviews and reviews made huge mention of how Deryck worked on the album. Served as amazing promo for the album, for general buzz surrounding her, as well as providing an excellent boost in the perception of her professionalism and personality. This seems rehashful, and if I may be really negative, quite odd, cause it's not like they scored a hit on any of their previous co-writes.

If I recall correctly, they also did a small portion of the bonez tour as well. As for how long it takes for an EP to be produced/developed, it would be completely plausible for her to be recording it only now, but that would only be the case if it were to be released solely online- if it was to be a pressed physical release, all of the mixing and artwork and details would usually be decided or even finalised by now. She might be prematurely celebrating/experiencing Christmas as a form of comfort/cheering up, or else she's prepping for an online release, IMO.
