I agree about everybody hurts, it's not the best written song ever... but I just remember going through an extremely dark and hopeless time in my life, crying alone in my dorm room to avril telling me "everybody feels this way, and it's okay. La da da da da, it's okay." It felt like she was the only one there for me, like she was personally comforting me. Honestly it felt like that more than a handful of times. Hence why I'm still here even after everything. oh yes, I had the same experience. Avril's songs and voice carried me through difficult times when no one was there. I have a special feeling for Avril, as if she is my old good pen pal. Yup, same here. "Everybody Hurts", "Darlin", "Nobody's Fool" - those are some of her songs that helped me the most during difficult times. Also, "Slipped Away". I used to be kind of annoyed by the weak lyrics, but listening to this song while grieving opened my eyes to how powerful even such simple lyrics can be. |

Legit when my dog died this past August unexpectadley, Goodbye, Remember when Everybody Hurts, and Slipped Away were on repeat and i felt like my dog was speaking to me through Avril. I legit scream cried the night Roxy died to Slipped away. I also lsitened to HAW a bunch too. Avril legit helped me so much when my dog died |

Yeah... people got other opinions then you. Also Souvenir is actually the perfect pop song imagine she released that a s a single and promoted it. Defintley something that would play on the radio on repeat You're new in Black Stars world. You don't know but whenever Avril was about to release a weak single (post WTH) fans used to say the same thing you did.. "oh this is so commercial/radio friendly, it's gonna be a huge hit". The result was always a major flop. I'm not really a fan of that song either, but "I taste salt in the air and in your sweater that I sleep in" will always be one of her best lines, idc what anyone else thinks  |

I wouldn’t call NH overrated because it’s one of the best songs in her discography imo. The only song I do think it’s quite widely overrated is Everybody Hurts. People somehow managed to convince themselves that absolutely bland generic snorefest is some big deep moment for her. No, lol. But different opinions and all that Agree about Everybody Hurts. I like it overall but it’s massively underdeveloped lyrically. It’s supposed to be this “deep” song but it just isn’t. She was in her mid 20s writing that, meanwhile I’ve heard songs with more emotional depth written by teenagers. I think that’s the problem throughout GL: the lyrics are undeveloped. There’s definitely parts of it it I like though, however basic they may be: WYWH - “there’s a girl who gives a shit, behind this wall you’ve just walked through it” Remember When - “this feeling I can’t shake no more, this emptiness in the bottom drawer, it’s getting harder to pretend that I’m not coming back around again” Push - “I’ve seen too much of you lately and you’re starting to getting on my nerves, this is what happened last time and it’s not we deserve” Alice - i love the beginning “tripping out spinning around, I’m underground I fell down”. Always felt that was a good start to the song and then it just kinda fizzles out. I love the music and melody but the chorus is just too jarring IMO |

I guess as we are on the topic of GL to bring this back to AL8, I wonder if it will have any self written or self produced songs like GL did? Her last several albums since GL have all had at least one self written track. The last time she produced anything was HAW I believe.

It's nice to see some of her older songs in viral stuff. Sort of like how Murder on the Dancefloor has made a bit of a comeback due to Saltburn.

I don't really care if she writes solo or produces as long as AL8 sounds good. I wonder if we'll hear anything before the tour about what she's been up to. It's kind of boring in Avril land again. I wonder if we'll hear anything regarding AL8 since it's been a very long time since we've gotten an update.

There is always something maybe even this tour was planed for “new album” but she decided to change the album concept again and needed more time with that so god knows but I would welcome any news sooner than later from her its getting really frustrating wait only for tour dates I would like to know if we will get new stuff and UMS20th |

See this is why I say it's just random follows of what she's currently into. I wonder if this is why she put up the listing a year ago. The rain has been nonstop this year.
